Zip-tie on fuel line

Zip-tie on fuel line
I'm changing the fuel filter on my t2 and just wondering of a zip-tie pulled to its max would be tight enough to use on the out line coming from the filter because I'm finding it extremely difficult to get the stock hose clamp back on the line bein under it on a jack stand with a pair of pliers. seems nearly impossible in the little space but i think i could fit a zip tie on there pretty easily. will it be tight enough?

yeah that would be a better bet for sure i just wasnt sure of the amount of pressure being put on the hose after the filter. worm gears sound like a good idea, will do. Those shitty stock ones are a real pita

Go to Crappy Tire,Or find a Napa auto parts store and get Fuel injection clamps.
They are better than the smaller worm gear clamps.
And if you find it hard with the Jack THERE,then move it.Or drive the Driver's front wheel onto something to Give you room under the car.Remember to WORK SAFE,Block the wheels off,and use Stands.
By the way,Why don't you just take the filter off the Bracket.It does come off(2 10mm nuts),and it would be easier to get the Clamp on the "Out" Side of it.

I did take it off the clamp to change the filter. my problem is there is barely any hand room where the filter sits to reach the upper hose. What is wrong with worm gears im sure they can be cranked more than tight enough seeing how the stock ones aren't super duper crazy tight to begin with.

Since this is probably the first time the fuel filter on your car has been changed, it would probably be a good time to change the lines in that area too.

When I change fuel filters, I usually take the line off at the rat's nest, and then pull the filter bracket off. This allows the lines and filter to hang down below the car and really makes it much easier to work with.

It does seem like the filter hasn't been changed but the lines are actually in pretty good condition. still soft, flexible without any cracks or anything. with a worm gear i would easily be able to tighten it without a problem.

There is a reason fuel injection lines use specific solid clamps. It is not recommended to use the gear style hose clamps. Over time, the gear can wear into the line and cause a leak. Spend the 2 dollars and buy the right clamp for the application. No one wants an engine fire.
