Ok...I have an '90 N/A RX-7, it developed a crack in it shortly after I got it and I found a replacement engine at a scrapyard. The engine, hear-say, of course, was running fine and was only a few years old. When I put it in the car and started it, it ran like ****. The #1 rotor had absolutely no compression. I was wondering if it was possible for the seals to be stuck down or something after having sat in a wrecked car for a few months or if there was some other reason for it. I've already forced myself to accept that the seals are fried and had the guy start looking for another...but if there's some trick to making it work anyway, then I'll have an extra engine (it was under a warrenty and he didn't ask me to bring it back
).
And does anyone know if both of the rotor housings are the same (interchangible)?

IF it reads 0 compresison it has blown apex seals. The ATF trick can help an engine with one stuck seal, or an engine with just low compression, but irreversible physical damage has been done by a busted apex seal flying around inside. You can use a mirror to obserive this though the sparkplug holes or better yet exhaust ports.
Front and rear housings are interchangeable, but if you must pas emissions this will prohibit that. IT has to do with the port air/egr passages.
