Arrow Your Top Speed

Ok, earlier today I was riding home on some back roads and there were some really really long streches of super straight road with no cars so I decided to just push it. I got up to about 123 mph, but I was still slightly accelerating, but my concious got the better of me and I slowed down. I have a few performance mods, some are in my sig, but it hasnt been updated in a while.

So enough with the rambling, here it is. What's the fastest you've been in your FC? And what were the conditions?

My car isn't running right now (needs a starter and registration ), but the first night I got it I decided to do some carbon cleaning and take her up a bit. I only ran it up to 180km/h (112mph) but she got there pretty quickly and that's when she wasn't running the best. I've never ran it with the mods that I have now so I'm not sure what I'd hit now, but I'm quite confident that I clear 135.

well I have never been able to top out my car but the fastest I have been in it so far when it was stock with intake and gutted cats was around 135mph,
these days when pushing it I take it to 70 in second and over 100 in third. so I am not sure what it will do but I am very interested in finding out. Lates Matt22

It was approx. 138 in NA trim and now turbo, I dont think it would be anything under 160.

I hit about 135-137 (checked by RPM) more than a couple of times in my old basicly stock 87 Sport running between San Diego and Vegas..

I have had the 'vert (with the 13BT) up to 130, but ran out of room on I5 before I could go any faster (too many other cars).

Now I have an open air filter (soon to be changed to a different setup...when I get some heat wrap) and hi flow cat, presilencer, and a 50mm catback, plugs, wires, removed butterflies from TB, blah blah blah. I pretty sure I'll be able to top 135, but that's the safe bet.

Fastest I ever went was in my old 88 vert. I got up to 130 on I5 between SF and LA. could have gone faster but too much traffic. I had intake, Ported and polished intake manifold, downpipe and catback.

Haven't pushed my T2 past 90 yet.

i got mine to a little over 140 and that was with the headlights up creating copius amounts of extra drag (to many cars on i-95 during the day, hehe) baisicaly this was past redline in 4th gear because 5th is just too damn tall with the 4.10 rearend to accelerate under that much drag. i'm not exactly sure if that figure is completely accurate because the previous owner put on bigger rims and tires and i dont know if he had the speedo recalibrated. i probobly could get a few fore mph into 5'th gear if i did it with the headlights down and with the few mods if been tinkering around with lately.

I topped out at around 138 in my 87 n/a with only intake and act clutch and major exhuast leak, oh and my room stuff and a friend helping me move, i did it through the grape vine going to bakersfield late at night. it was fun but risky.

it's important to remember that the car's weight has little to do with top speed. once you near your top speed your actual acceleration is pretty small and therfore not realy dependent on weight. it's all about your motor fighting to constantly churn all that air. it boils down to coeficient of drag VS. max hp.

Only ~120mph for me in my 86 N/A as I was visually telling this Honda Civic behind me that "No, you cannot pass me, even when you think you got the power, punk." I was just cruising, minding my business only doing about 70 in 4th on a winding part of a "backroad" I drive to and from work on, when this Honda Civic comes sailing up on my ***. Well, I just held my slow cruising speed through the curves, and as soon as I saw him move to the side of me as the curves ended and the straight-away started, I dropped my baby into 3rd and nailed the accelerator. I was just over 120mph when I had to start slowing down because there was a curve in the road ahead. 3 curves later and a nice long straight-away again, but I think the Civic got embarrased because he did not even attempt to try that stunt again. Gotta love the 7's 3rd gear for that shear pulling power! Stupid lawn-mower-driven-Hondas!

I definitely plan to top that once I get my T2 conversion soon (already ordered) and broken in.

Watch what you say.

Stupid lawn-mower-driven-Hondas!

Rotaries are cool.
But it doesn't mean that Honda engines are lawnmower engines.
Watch what you say my friend.......

In one of our cars (TII), I pegged 7200 rpm in 5th gear, with stock tire ratio. Dunno what speed that equates to, but it was higher than the speedo reads.

oh yeah, back to topic.
when speedo worked: 130
without working: countless trips up to 7 grand in 4th gear. (3 of which were tonight kicking the snot out of an "action package" celica).
