Your not gunna get this..!!!

Ok, here's my story, i have my car in the garage, with the hood up.. i was just working on cleaning up the engine bay a little and organizing some wires and other crap that i dont need.

I had a screw driver sitting on the passenger shock tower...

My little cousin (6 years old) comes out while i'm inside getting a beer, and as i'm walking back out to the garage i catch him sticking the screwdriver into the R/L adjustment (sit's near shock tower)

i was so pist... so i start the car up, it's fumbling and idleing rough now

take it for a drive and well, it's lagging, alot, i think it's running rich or something

is there any way to adjust the A/F ratio without having a tool or a guage of somesort.. man i'm so pist, because the car was running PERFECT!

thanks guys

I think that that adjustment is just for the idle, not actuall a/f.

the little screw that says R----L I thought the idle screw was on top of the manifold... Pretty sure it's something important, cause car is running way wrong. stumble/running rough, and when i get to around 2500-3000 rpms, there's a huge flat spot in acceleration, than again around 5500, with major popping noise from mufflers, and a horrid exhaust smell from the back end... It's either WAY rich, or WAY lean, and i'm not sure how to get it back to normal...or semi normal.

Anyway to do so without special guage/tool>?

I always thought that R was for Rich and L was for Lean. Man didnt you just try adjusting that screw that your cousin messed with? I'm betting its pointed way on the L side. Try turning it in the middle of the R and L. You will notice the engine smoothing out.

yeah i did that to get the car running 'smooth' again, but last person who messed with that screw was my mechanic, and he all sort's of guage's and dial's hooked up to the car.. so it WAS tuned properly, and now it's 'smooth' but i dont think i'll be able to get it the way it was...

Ahh screw it, i'll just get a Air/fuel guage to compliment my Temp guage.. hummm

It is the mixture control (lean/rich) for idle only. Even if your cousin broke it that would not effect dirveablity at all. I play with mine every time I set the idle and TPS. You can make the car idle like crap with it but it will not effect the way it drives.

Try unplugging it and see how the car reacts.

I would suggest sticking the screwdriver in his head so it doesn't happen again.

lol, gene.. hey ThePartsTrader.. thanks for the info.. make's me wonder what else he fucked with to make the car run like it is now..

I also found the Vac line going to the boost sensor (also shock tower) was dissconnected

Hooked it back up and well, she's running, i put the mixture screw back to normal.. (car idles smooth again) and she's running fine.

thanks guys
