Yeah! New rtek 1.7 chip now available

This isn't some magic chip. It does exactly what we say it does. No more, no less. You can put whatever turbo you want on your car. Bottom line is *YOU* still need to make sure your motor gets enough fuel for the amount of boost you are running. Our chip helps the engine run better (safer) when you start modding it beyond stock. Key word: "Helps".
As stated before, we say you can run 1.7 with 720s and a fuel pump with a stock turbo at 12psi with no other fuel control. Running other combinations of parts will start pushing it beyond the chip's built in "help" and YOU will need to do whatever is needed to support your mods.

after reading this I'm placing my order today.I've already installed my 720's and the apexi.I was going to the dyno today.I'll just have to wait a couple more days.I think it will be worth it.I'll post after I have everything going and let you guys know how it turns out.

Wow! They have a quick turn around. I USPS expressed it saturday, they received it about 10 am Monday, and had it out that day. Next day UPS and I got it today (Tuesday).
Unfortunately my 720s are still being cleaned at RC engineering, soooo--I'll be putting around town under 3500 rpm till they come in. Can't wait to boost it up a little.

very cool I just got the chip in today as well however I descided after a long debate that I should have them put it in instead of myself. So I'm going to two day air it and then have them do the same.

I will be doing the RTEK route also with my S4 TII ECU. This setup will be used on my 1974 914 Porsche. =)
I got a pair of 750cc RC Eng. disc/ball type injectors for the secondaries. This should work nicely with a S5 turbo.

Don't let Overdriven fool you. It's not that easy. The majority of the people out there do not have the soldering skills, or more importantly, the proper equipment, needed to do the mods. Trust me, I've see what happens when people overestimate their soldering skills. It usually involves buying another ECU.

well the part that scared me was the cuting and splicing of ecu traces. I could easily solder in a chip however the 1.7 requires actually doing more than just that, read the directions its not as easy as the 1.5. I work on laptops all the time and solder pieces back on like when people brake the plug in on the back of their system however I've never had to cut and splice traces before and that scares me. I've already spent enough money on this car and my luck I would burn the ecu and chip up and have buy both again. Maybe I'm worried over nothing but with my bad luck its better safe than sorry

Exactly...Digital Tuning's service is so great anyway - the turnaround time is lightning fast. I'll be doing 2 day air for my 1.7 install...the ECU is going out monday and the order will be placed that morning.

Well i just got mine in today, and i must say i like it. I was just running a walbro pump and 720's befor without any kind of fuel control on about 12-13 psi. The biggest differance i've noticed was the sound. Expesally at higher revs, also alot in the 3000 - 3800 range, befor the car was very loud right around in there(lean im guessing). But now a much more stronger sound all around. But it's running great, It rained here today and she had no problem breakin lose in 3rd. It was well worth $125, Just cant wait till 2.0 comes out

Got my Rtek 1.5 installed! I'm just running stock injectors and turbo at 10 PSI for now, so the 1.5 is all I need. I may upgrade to 1.7 in the future though. It works GREAT. No fuel cut or or AWS! It wierd someone else mentioned this...my car sounds different too. Specially before the secondaries come on...it sounds...throatier I guess. I only got about 10 minutes to test yesterday, and it was wet so the tires were breaking loose left and right. Thumbs up for the Rtek...this is a must have upgrade.

cool! Ok now for you guys that are pretty good with these chips, what do you think would happen if I had an upgraded turbo instead of a stock turbo?? I don't want to run to lean but the stock fuel maps that are made with the 1.7 are made for the stock turbo. I may just bring it to a dyno for an hour to see what it runs. I emailed him yesterday to see what the a/f #'s where for the stock turbo but he didn't know, he said that he was going to have to find out from hinreck and then get back intough with me.

Thelarger turbo shuold be able to make more power than yuor stock unit at lower boost levels.

ok I guess thats what I will do, man I just hate spending 125 an hour to put that bastard on a dyno but of course its alot cheaper than buying a new engine. I've got a to4b in the stock housing so I'm guessing its kind of like the bnr stage one wich is not all that big but still bigger than the stock turbo. A to4e should be a little smaller than that even.

Questions like "Can I run a mac truck turbo", "Can I run 2000cc primaries", and "can I run 28 psi" are all moot. You know the answer to them because it's the same answer as if you were to ask about the stock ECU. And that is "You need to do what is needed to make sure that you have enough fuel for the amount of boost you are running or enough fuel control to compensate for injectors that the ECU is not expecting."
jon88se has an excellent point in starting out with as little boost as possible, and it's always good to run race gas when you are tuning on a dyno to give you a little extra headroom in case a bad correction is made.
