Have her get you anything BUT a car part.
That Way IF you and your GF decide to break up she can't go all "bitchy" and say that she spent Money on 'that car' and try to repossess any Parts she Bought as 'a gift'.

A turbo timer is a complete waste of money unless you have a piece of junk Mexican or Chinese aftermarket turbo that is not water cooled.
I agree with misterstyx69 in that it is generally not such a good idea to ask for expensive car parts as a gift.
My favorite cheapie gift idea is a Fumoto F-106 Regular Valve oil drain valve. It allows you to drain the oil into a low-profile pan without jacking up the car, you never need to install another crush washer, you never need to worry about stripping the bolt or bashing your fingers, it makes less mess, and you can drain a small amount of oil if needed for an oil sample.

Other good lower-budget ideas are a rotor keychain, rotor oil cap, rotor key blank, RX-7 model car, tire pressure gauge, your favorite car care supplies, etc. People love to ask me to explain the rotary13b1.com spinning rotor keychain I have on my desk at work.

im not too worried about breakin up. She wont take the parts or anything like that. plus im buying her a blackberry (in her name lol).
here is my thought behind what i want. she is willing to spend $150-175. I figure if i put out $60 for my downpipe i can pick up the fuel pump in a few weeks. My DP has a crack in it so it is leaking. so my nice new shiney apexi gt will be backed up by a POS DP lol. my dad is making me a FCD (he is good with that sort of stuff).
I agree the turbo timer can wait. no big deal,
Bov i was thinking of getting cause i am gettng my FMIC installed soon and thats would be one less part to buy.

That isn't the problem as much as the financial issue. How much money does she have each month after paying all her bills? Maybe I am wrong, but it sounds like you are both are buying gifts that exceed a responsible percentage of your income. Maybe you should give each other a Suze Orman book or video rather than expensive gifts? How about you both give each other inexpensive gifts and each contribute $100 to an IRA?
Do you mean that you currently have a piece of junk aftermarket turbo and you can wait until later to install a turbo timer, or that you plan on replacing your water-cooled stock turbo with a piece of junk aftermarket turbo that is not water-cooled?

Don't get a turbo timer. Seriously, if you're that worried about your turbo then just sit in your car for an extra min or so with it idling. Or get out with it running + check your car. That's what I do if I go bombing around in it right before I park it. I try not to make a habit of that, but sometimes there's a hill right before I park or something like that.

In that case, take the money you would have completely wasted on a turbo timer and give it to charity. I think $100 will buy several meals for the needy.

OK, it's just that your gift ideas are not typical of somebody who makes enough money to fully fund an IRA and 401k each year ($5,000 and $16,500 respectively for single young folks). Don't mind me, I'm just checking to make sure you don't end up on welfare.

I like the SX / Aeromotive brand pumps, but a Walbro 255 is fine for a cheapie pump and it is probably the most common aftermarket pump on 2Gen RX-7s.
Seriously, the Fumoto oil drain valve is one of my favorite mods, and I wish I had a dollar for everybody at work who asked me about the rotor keychain. Sometimes I even get the "tell me again how that works" from one of the engineers passing by my desk, lol.

All turboed cars(For longest turbo life) have to be ran at idle for 1-3 minutes after long drives for the turbo to cool. So turbo timer would be smart but not really that important because you can just sit in your car for 2 minutes and wait for it to cool.

If you want to read more about the physics involved, see this link and search for the term "thermal siphon":

Stay tuned next week when we learn that brake out-gassing, the supposed reason for cross-drilled brake rotors, has been extinct in modern nations for many years now.

No, that is just urban legend based on older automotive turbos that were not water-cooled. A modern water-cooled turbo such as the stock FC RX-7 turbo doesn't need much of a cool-down from street driving, which is why the stock turbos on our cars still work after all these years. Also, it is not long drives but rather high boosting that requires more cool-down time. The engine does not need to be at idle for the cool-down period, but rather just running without boost, which is usually accomplished as you slow down and drive through a neighborhood or large parking lot prior to parking your car. To quote from Garrett, "Water-cooling of the turbocharger's center housing has essentially eliminated the need for turbo timers or extended idling periods."

I actually lost a lot of posts during the various forum crashes over the years. The admins offered to restore them, but I could care less, lol. I am posting a lot right now because I am researching stocks on the internet right now, I like discussing cars, I like helping people avoid spending money on worthless things, and of course I have no life.
Don't worry, I am going to sleep soon because I need to wake up early for a CMP rifle competition tomorrow.
