WTF? Is this some kind of joke?

I know how an internal combustion engine works. In fact, probably quite a bit more than most people on this forum do, so let me try and explain this to you: all this mod does is change the mixture and timing slightly. We arent talking about enough to hurt anything, just enough to make for a tiny bit more efficient operation. Basically, it advances the timing slightly, and adds enough fuel to compensate. This means you are burning more fuel, just as efficiently, so you get a bit more power. So why isnt this already standard, you might ask? Well, when car companies build cars, they like to include redundancies to make the cars safe from moron drivers that might otherwise destroy them. This is one of those type of things. Removing the redundancy makes for a bit more power at the cost of one less "wall" between you and hurting your engine. It will not directly effect reliability, but rather it will make the car much less safe should somethign else break.
On another note, for those of you who thought of this, this is not the only intake air temperature sensor. This is the sensor built into the AFM, not the one in the intake. Your computer still knows how warm the air is, and corrects for it, it just doesnt also correct the AFM reading for temperature, since it only gets one value.

hasn't this been covered like a million times and come to the same conclusion that its worth about 15c at radioshack its a resistor, and in my mind isn't worth the time

yup. 15cent resistor. worth about the same amount of HP as, say, replacing the stock fan with an electric one. Nobody is saying its gonna make your car into a dragster...just that **** for a quarter, who cares if it only gives you 3hp, thats still a damn good deal. I am not doing this to my car, since i dont have an AFM :-D but if i did, i would, and its kind of sad that everytime a noob gets on here and asks a simple question like this people who dont really know what they are talking about jump all over them. There is nothing wrong with doing small cheap mods to slightly increase hp. if you did all of the litttle mods like this, by the time you were done, your car would be noticably faster, and it would still be cheaper than one major mod, and easier too.
Just because you think that these things may not work, or are rice, doesnt mean that you should call someone stupid for thinking of doing them. When i was new to 7s, i used to ask stuff like this, and it pissed me off when people did that, especially after i learned that they were wrong and half this stuff does work.

ps except the e-ram supercharger thing, that really is retarded.

I think it should be sold as a package with the "turbo sound simulator" that gets stealthly bolted on your exhaust tip. This way, you get the power AND the sound
