WTF Happend now?!

I just installed my a replacement TPS on my car today...and now when I start up my car the damn thing revs by itself, then levels off, and then dies in about five to 10 seconds.

The strange thing is, it never did this up until now....

Maybe its time for me to move on to another type of car....

Check for vacum leaks. Maybe something got knocked off while you were installing the TPS.

I don't think you adjusted the TPS properly...That's the only thing you've "played" with since it ran right, eh?

Check the TPS plug also, for corroded terminals you might have "awaken" when you reconnected the plug...

Well, I double checked everything, and managed to get it to at least stop reving...problem is....

Now I'm getting the code for the TPS, and O2 Sensor, The TPS code wasn't coming on until today, and the 02 sensor was just changed amount last fall, and was only driven for about a month before I put the car away for winter.

It was working fine before that.....What are the odds its a short, or broken wire,or..?

I've changed a few TPS' in the past and never had anything like this....

From what I've read, the ECu and the touble codes on the RX-7 are primative by todays standards, although the RX-7 was one of the very first vehicles to employ such a system. I read that when you get a series of codes, always troubleshoot the first one because once you fix that, the rest, or a substantial number of them will go away.

I would get the books out (Haynes and/or FSM) and go over the entire task of installing and adjusting the TPS again. If you go over it step by step again, and it doesn't work, try it with the old TPS again. If the old TPS makes the problem go away, stick with that one. What did you replace the old one for? Doesn't sound like you were having problems to you replaced it.

The TPS was completely out of spec, and one of the wires on the TPS it self ended up some how braking(right near the sensor itself.).

I have however, had many problems come and go by fixing one thing. So there is truth to the code system being primative by todays standards.... its never a simple task to fix these things.

Icemark: Is there an Optima red-top available for the FC? If not, which brand of battery do you recommend?

all redtops are the same size, and they fit fine... even though that's totally off topic
