I am a big advocate of have custom exhausts made over buyin them for turboed cars. Being turbo there is a lot less R&D needed for a good exhaust. I have a HKS titanium muffler on the back of 3" mandrel bent piping, that flows like a ****, and looks and sounds awesome that cost me about 375$! Including paying a welder 70$ to mig the bends together. I already had a RB downpipe and midpipe, but if I didnt I prolly could of gotten the whole exhaust for around 500$! I am a pretty thrifty(cheap) guy though! Gotta love yardsale-in!!!

put it this way:

'90 TurboII purchased STOCK except a turbo timer, and OBX mufflers (gay looking) with a blown rear rotor.. Swap it out for an (apparently stock) J-spec.

So basically, '90 TurboII with a stock motor.

It's only boosting 5.5psi, and trailing off towards redline. So, I figure cats are clogged. For $100 I had a FULL turbo-back custom exhaust made (welded to the stock downpipe before the precat). 2.5" all the way back.

STILL only boosts to 5.5psi, it must be electrical. Okay, whatever.. take it to the track. First day at the track I run 14.435 @ 96.78 mph.

Second time at the track, take it out and it runs 14.155 @ 99.86 mph.

So, for $100 you CAN have some good times. I'd almost guarantee if you're actually running correct boost with an exhaust, you'll be in the 13's.

My exhaust was custom made...we built the DP as we were putting the exhaust on. I think I have one of if not the best sounding exhaust on any rotary (and I say that modestly)

I think Mazdatrix has the turbo RB catback in stock. They had it last month when I got mine.

A friend of mine ran 14:5 on street tires, his upgrades:
Aeromotive fuel pump and regulator
720cc secondaries
2-1/2 single exhaust
That is all he did to his TII.

For ~$1850 we built a 87 TII that ran 13.4's @ 105.5 mph. That included the car purchase. 1.98 sec '60 time.

Old school HKS 2 1/4" DP and presilencer, 3" straightpipe "cat-back".

$15 HKS adapter
$28 Cone filter
$0 Ported wastegate
Used ACT clutch and 17lb flywheel

We tried running some 680cc injectors but they didn't work well with the stock ECU so we used the stock 550's. I guess the S-AFC would help there.

Also the car was lightened. We ran stock spares up front, no AC or PS, no spare, jack, rear wiper, heater. It looked stock inside but weighed 2450lbs. The motor had 142K miles on it.

Here are some pics of the car:
