Id say up to $500 is all I'd pay for that, it looks pretty beat. He says "11,000 RPM is no problem for this car"...

Also note that the air pump and ACV have been removed, so if you need emissions testing in your area, these are parts you will need to pick up , as well as a cat (hopefully they have removed it..)

its worth at least $100...wouldn't pay more than $600(but that's my opinion)...The exterior looks ok...get some junkyard parts for the interior and put in a new motor and you got yourself an decent RX-7!!

ALSO Note that he said it's a GXL in fact it's a SE since it has 4 lugs. So it isn't as good. Single piston brakes all around and bare inside unless they added options.

Actaully I don't know if I said is true. I know that for a fact for 88's but the early 2nd gens were a little weird.

But anything that says comes with drag radials shouldn't be considered a sturdy car. It's probably been thrashed.
Why would you need a Monster Tach anyways?
On S4 N/a's the power is gone by redline.

Yea, its no GXL. It has the 4-lugs and no power accessories.

They need the monster tach for the 11k rpm shifts Even though they stop making power at like 7k, and hit the rev limiter before 8

i would not buy that. i think i've seen it on ebay before. but 11,000 nothing for that car? 11,000 is everything to that car. getting close to 8000 i can feel my s5 losing power. at 11,000 in an s4 i'm almost 100% you're breaking something... if not everything. steer clear of that rx7

Run away, run far, run fast. No, it's not worth the $100. However, it may be worth $100 to buy it so you can tow it to the local salvage yard where the crusher will put it out of its misery in the most humane manner possible.

FYI:
1) Redline on a stock 86-88 engine is 7,000 rpm. I can assure you that the engine is toast after running at 11,000 rpm.
2) The VIN shown in the ad is incorrect. At a minimum, the L should be a C.
3) A real racing exhaust only has one muffler or resonator, and is not street legal.
4) Like others have noted, the GXL had 5-lug wheels, so I doubt that car is a GXL. It is most likely a base model or Luxury model. From the pictures, it looks like it has the tinted windshield sunshade, so I'm going to go with the Luxury model based on that. I would normally look for the power mirrors of the Luxury vs. the manual remote mirrors of the base model, but that car doesn't have any mirrors, lol.

On second thought, that car doesn't have a sunroof, so it's probably a base model.

We're not making fun of that car, we're simply saying that it's a piece of ****. Big difference.

For what it's worth, I bought a low-mileage Mazda 626 Turbo with a new clutch, timing belt, brakes, and AC compressor for $600. It runs perfectly and the only problem is, is that it needs new shocks.

A beater is a car that you can drive everyday and not worry about something important falling off, like that example of vehicular abuse.

Plus, the seller of the car explicitly says, "As i stated this car is a project car not to be used as daily driver by no means." Thusly, that car isn't even suited for use as a beater.

Rong agin.

He must have changed the description, it doesn't say anything about 11,000 rpms. The alternater looks way to high to me, he must've used a six foot prybar to put tension on the belts. That poor baby...

ive driven in this car im the dudes friend and its not that bad fellas itll idle when u adjust it and then it runs good (till u turn it off again) the body alone i think is worth 600 bucks not the mention all the other ricer **** he has on it
and this car has had alot done to it buy a guy who raced it and dyed it is FAST... and yes he has gone to 10 on the tach but no 11 thats just crazy i think i counted as a rough estimate to 0-60 in like 5 seconds belive it or not

If he's really taken that engine to 10K RPM, I can only imagine the chatter marks on the rotor housings.

There's also no way that the car has a 0-60 of 5 seconds. That's supercar territory, and that car with 146 HP and minimal and questionable performance mods is not much of a "supercar", let alone a car.

actually the SE is the one you would want to drop a t2 swap into and have a light car with a nice motor = really fun to drive. I say pick it up drive it until the motor blows then do the swap.

The body is worth $50 at best, and the ricer stuff adds another $30. I am reluctant to mention this because the seller will probably add it to the text whether or not it really has one, but an aluminum hood in good shape is worth about $200-250 alone.

BTW, please tell your friend to post the CORRECT VIN so that interested parties (as ignorant as they may be) can run a background check on the car. If he has time to remove his 11,000rpm idiocy, he certainly has time to correct the VIN (unless of course he is intent on falsifying this information as would be expected of a common criminal).

Oh, I get it, if you replace the 7,000rpm redline tach with a 10,000rpm tach, then the engine can now go to 10,000rpm no problem! Why didn't I think of that?

I will go with the "not" on that one. An 88 Lamborghini Countach with a V-12 did 0-60 in 4.9 sec.

For what? It has all the base model items that most people want to ditch, and you know that the entire drivetrain is shot anyway. Two years ago I gave away a better RX-7 than that for free.

Wow, it looks like some poor teenager's lesson in life is going to cost him $650. Too bad, but if he learns from his mistake I guess it's worth it.

HMMmmm since the stock flywheel usually starts breaking up and flying in multiple directions around 9000 rpm...
