Is worth $400?

86 rx7 with A/C (Gxl?) Veh ID#JM1fC3311G0139264 By the way I like A/C option and would like to use car as a nice commuter. Now my concerns first sign says bad tranny. I started up seemed to shift fine but when release clutch it is obviously stuck (In gear or munched?) Could I be lucky and could fix linkage? Next when started blows a fairly decent size puff of smoke. White to grey color-couldn't catch any smells. Smoke gets less as warmed. No way to test compression. Body is in good to almost excellent shape. Has white wheels. I have fell in love with this car but am not he best of mechanics and not independently wealthy. Please reply.

For $400, you could make your money back and more by parting the car out.

However, I'm willing to bet that a new clutch slave cylinder, tune-up, and avoiding abusing the engine would serve you well. The oil-control rings could be going out, but that's not the biggest deal in the world. Yes, the engine might need to be rebuilt eventually, but you can't lose by picking up that car for that cheap.

Buy it and have fun with it.

Thanks! That was my gut feeling and what I was hoping to hear. I'm sure weak question for the old pros here but I would like to find answers before someone else buys the car while I sit in front of my computer! Can anyone point me to the Vin # look up if any. What are the odds that the tranny is just the bushing rebuild I just skimmed on one of the links.

what about being stuck in gear. Shifter moves from gear to gear and when release clutch car snubs. Any ideas?

Look in the classified section on this forum.....there is a section for VIN checks. you can usually find someone on there who already has a membership with carfax so it will be free.

Depends on condition of the chassis too if it's a good deal or not.

buy it. race it into the earth for 3 months. you can do that and never leave second gear if you want. when it blows up in a hail of smoke and shrapnel you can throw a party, change 2 bucks a crack at it with a sledge hammer and make enough off the kegs to buy another beater! and hot-damn 3 months after that you get to have ANOTHER party! do it do it do it

Is what title and VIN# says and yes white wheels. why do you ask? Was wondering this car came stock with A/C and cruise and power moonroof. I am thinking it a gxl with A/C upgrade. Any other Ideas? Sport?
