Woo Hoo! I won the lottery...now tranny question...
Anybody on here yesterday may have noticed a running FC being practically given away, well i was the lucky winner. This is not a rub it in post, I've got a legit question: I talked to the owner and he said that he believes that the rear tranny seal is leaking tranny fluid. So here's the problem / question:
1- It's going to be a bitch to get a trailer to take the car back up to dallas (car is in austin.... maybe 2.5 - 3 hours away). But it is possible, I've just got to wait longer to get it.
2- If I'm careful; and stop every 20 - 30 mins of driving and check the tranny fluid lvl and fill it up when necessary do ya'll think it will limp up there?
I know the second option isn't very responsible.... but it's quicker. I will probably end up trailering it any way, I just wanted to see what you guys thought.

yea you can trailer it, but just keep in mind the following, on a one way tow (a little cheaper on a two way but then you have to pay gas.0 I just did a 3 hour tow with my 7 and can give ya the break down.
Truck to trailer it = 150
Trailer to to car = 50
Gas = ~ 100 Dollars
Insurance= ~75 dollars
It cost me 400 dollars to tow down the rx7 (granted i was moving 3 hours away and had the truck hood packed).
A better way to do it is one of the followin
1. Buy AAA and have them tow it, and pay the extra fees outside the 100 miles. You can do GM roadside too (which i recomend personally since its unlimited tows) and pay the fees once you hit outside of 20 miles.
2. Post up on RX7club to see if someone can do it for you. A year and half ago I had an awesome guy offer to tow the car for 100 bucks from Ft Lauderdale to Orlando (250 miles).
I don't think you should risk driving it. You know as well as I do .. that driving an RX7 with a known problem is asking for trouble. Even if its something that can be dealt with, if something else pops up, you arent going to have to fun of a time on the way back.

yea, I'm not worried about renting a trailer..... I've got acess to a nice one and a truck to pull it, it would just take more time to arrange the use of said items. I just want my new seven.... NOW!!! lol. But I don't want a new, dead tranny. So, i guess I'll tow it till i can fix the seal, that's not hard to do anyways.
