Won't Turn Over

I'm assuming this is a starter problem. I'm going to try a starter from another car. The weird thing is, whenever I try to start it, it loudly clicks once, and then there's no power. As if something is draining the battery. If I unhook the battery and then hook it back up, power comes back. This is making me think there's a short somewhere. I cleaned the battery/starter terminals and checked for exposed wires. Is the starter itself causing a short? All the fuses are good. BTW, I was having problems with the starter/solenoid before this happened. It would take a few tries to get it to turn over. Is there anywhere else to look for the problem?

Well, it's definetaly an electrical problem. I think I fried my battery. Where do I start to look? I'm going to follow the battery wires from the battery to the starter. What else should I check?

got a multi meter? Try seeing if you see shorts all over the place. Or try another battery. . .
