Wont Rev Good Anymore, UNDER LOAD! Options Rating
So, here's the deal, was driving around the other night just fine, the car pulled just as fine as it normally does.
I wake up last night, go to punch it and it sounds like it's running out of air or fuel around 5k rpms, I can't make it past 8k rpms...here's the catch UNDER LOAD (and no I was just testing it out to see if it would hit the rev buzzer) my exhaust just starts popping a lot until I shift into the next gear.
I tried leaning it out on the SAFC and riching it up, neither helped.
I lost to a Scion Tc with a full exhaust from headers back with an intake also due to this problem, but I only lost by a half of car, it's great until I hit that damn dead spot, or else I would have passed him.
The 5th & 6th ports seemed to have been working fine the other day, the only thing I've done in the past two days was change the oil (Mobil1 10W-30 - K&N Oil Filter - Like always) and reground ONE connection because of my head light problems, so far, even grounding it directly to the battery didnt help my problem.
To me, it seems like the injectors are coming on too much or are hung open (110 miles on $30 gas is NOT normal for me, usually 190 miles to a tank minimum) or the 5th and 6th ports stopped working magically, I think it's the first option so my next question is, where do I buy replacment fuel injectors because I'm sure teh secondarys are clogged up anyways, but I dont want to pull the whole manifold for the primarys...
The car runs fine up to 5k rpms where the REVs take FOREVER to get up anywhere high, so it's defintley drivable, just not raceable...

How old is the fuel filter? Sounds like it is leaning out.
SAFC's are great for n/a's, they run too rich from the factory. I've seen plenty of 10-15 HP dyno proven gains just from leaning out up top on N/A's.

I can't believe someone with 2,372 posts would ask that question...
mwatson, it looks like it's never been changed, I suppose I could do that, it did happen after I increased the fuel load in the upper rpm range just playing around, so I suppose that's what it is.

Usually people respond pretty fast but it is Sunday, I figured out what it was.
When my friend up at the oil change shop was changing the oil and filter, he leaned on the intake manifold and apparently knocked the VDI Connector off, now it pulls strong all the way up to 8k like it's supposed to.
In fact, I whooped a brand new Toyota Camry with no problem at the light beside the gas station lol!

yeah wait til aaron or mark see a statement like that.... The cars
run a bit rich up top but not enough to justify an SAFC. I'd like to see this
15hp gain in a stock car on a dyno...
I still say you've screwed with something too much. You actually just said
so...you increased "fuel load" (? I thought you guys just said it ran rich up
top?) and then it started to screw up. Disconnect the SAFC and I bet your
problems will go away.

I did increase fuel load...down low just for ***** and giggles, and it was reset to stock settings when this happened, also read my previous post I fixed the problem...

Wait, maybe you didn't catch the 'IT RUNS RICH FROM THE FACTORY' part...that would mean upgraded fuel system would be pointless. Also, I've got a intake on it with a heat shield, the exhaust is pretty much straight through.
You completley ignored the fact that I barley lost to a car with less miles than mine, more mods, and I still barley lost.
And no, I went out to a long strip of deserted road today with a buddy and did a few runs messing with different tune settings, stock I lost by two cars, with it leaned out by 11% I put three cars on him by 100mph.
Stop trying to be a smart *** and learn something for a damn change...I'm sure most people here will agree an SAFC will do a lot of good, that's why they add HP with a tune...:o go figure...

And since when do safc's have blinking lights?
