Exclamation Wiring Walbro 255lph @ 12V

The local RX7 shop said to cure some of my problems it may be best to wire my fuel pump with the battery and having a resistor ( something along those lines ) added aswell so it would get constantly 12V and never less....

basically my car pings off and on, but now more then ever.... it even pinged at 3000rpm and i JUST HAD IT on the dyno!...

it DIDNT ping on the dyno at all, but now it's near 3500rpm and 6000rpm.... i'm afraid to test it but i'm sure it does it around those incriments aswell....

well, if you're looking for how to rewire your fuel pump, check out www.1300cc.com

No you do not need to rewire the fuel pump to recieve constant full voltage, that will not help your problem. As soon as the ECU sees a load it switches the resistor out and the pump gets full voltage, so the only change you will see if you do this is increased low-load fuel consumption. At full-load it will be exactly the same.

You should definitely rewire the pump to minimise the voltage drop through the factory loom, especially with the Walbro, as it draws more current than the stock pump. Follow the instructions at http://www.1300cc.com/howto/how2/rewire.htm. This method keeps the 2-speed pump system operational but improves fuel pump voltage under all conditions, particularly when there are other electrical loads on.

If you need any help with this let me know. It's not as hard as it first looks.
