For a series five, there is no point to point diagram with wire colors and connections b/t point to point for what your talking about. There are simplified diagrams in the Engine Electrical and Body electrical but if there is a connector inbetween one point to the other your flat out of luck.

No schematic ONLINE that is. They can be bought from Mazdatrix or the dealer though.

What's wrong? Idiot lights don't come on with the key to just ON? (engine not running).

i have a s4 now, the wiring to the plug got cut trying to put it back together, colors all dont match up, thought a diagram would allow me to figure it out faster.

when i try to hook up the gauge cluster back up and start my car it makes this horrible buzzin noise and wont start and i think its cause the idiot lights isnts plug in, cause they are connected? or am i on the wrong track, if i disconnect the gauges my car will start with no noise, and there really isnt a wrong way to hook it up. so what am i doing wronng??

Just to be sure, tell me this: are you talking about the two plugs on the back of the Combination Meter. Combination Meter being the speedometer, tach, oil pressure gauge, water gauge etc. That the one your talking about?

im trying to rewire the one plug to the back of the idiotlights-instrustmental panel, combination meter is whats buzzin and wont allow me to turn on my car when plug in, really only those three plugs, so i think it has to do with the instrustmental panel not being plugged in right? or something else?

I might see how if one of the two plugs on the back of the Instrument panel (combination meter) was wired wrong , might cause your problem. And the only reason I say that is because the tach signal comes from the Trail Coil assy and MAYBE if you grounded that yellow/blue wire, it MIGHT cause the car not to run. MAYBE. As in GUESSING.

The series four wiring diagrams are online. If the site mentioned above does not work, then look in the FAQ thread found at the top of this page and see if you can find another site to download it. I MIGHT jpg it for you, but it'll be a bit later.

Attached is a jpg of the two plugs on the back of the Combination Meter, or instrument panel if you want.

The wire colors are shown for each pin/socket. The GR would be Green wire with a Red stripe, RW would be a Red wire with a White stripe etc.

The view they show you is looking at the side of the electrical plug where the WIRES ENTER the plug.

Just in case, I'll late jpg a Idiot Light Cluster plug. Later that is.

You NEED to download ACROBAT. It's free and somewhere out there on the web.

I'm throwing in this attached jpg of the clock/lights schematic.

Remember that the gauge harness is different between series and Turbo/non turbo (so there are 4 different Mazda part numbers).

But to check if the gauges are causing a problem just unplug the gauge harness in back of the gauges. The car will run fine without the gauges even plugged in. If it does run fine without the gauges plugged in, then there might be a wiring issue.

If it does not run fine with the gauges unplugged you will need to find some other issue.

hailers i think i confused you....
"Attached is a jpg of the CLOCK/IDIOT lights plug. Your looking at the side of the plug where the WIRES ENTER THE PLUG. "
i have all the wires pluged into that.

my problem is they are cut along the line of that and im trying to soder them back together
althought the one end is from a series 4 and the other end a series 5 therefore some of the colors on the wires are different. the wiring coming from out of the dash is the series 5 the other end that i am plugging into the back of the idiot lights is from a series 4. so i was looking for a diagram that has something that will tell me which colors can go together even though they are not the same colors.

or will that not work because they are two different series? if it cant. do i have to buy a whole new plug and wiring? all the other wiring in my car from the series 5 worked for my series 4, but i guess maybe it wont because im trying to combine the wires?

The plug housing is the same, but you will need to wire the actual plug based on if you are using a S4 or S5 clock warning panel

So in other words, you will need to wire it according to the clock warning panel series, and not the wire colors of the plug.
