Wiring mania (trying to find main engine harness)
I can't find what I am looking but I just want to make sure I am not missing something
So I just received a "Engine harness" and I am trying to find the Main harness that goes from,
the ECU to the Passenger side grommet to the Engine bay to the injectors and AFM and what not.
Someone please help...
I might be going slightly insane this thing is taking up my entire floor atm.![Lol](https://www.rx7club.com/images/smilies/lol.gif)

It it one gigantic harness? You might have received the chassis harness. In the center of the fourth pic it looks like the plastic guide that goes over the steering column and one of the giant rubber grommets that goes through the firewall , bottom center looks like the round plug that goes in the back of the gauge cluster.
Look for another big rubber grommet -- if you received it all connected together the ECU plugs shouldn't be too far from it.

It's hard to tell because the pictures don't really show the connector well. In any event, I'm not really seeing the emissions harness in there. Get some better pictures of the connectors at the very ends of the harness and I could answer it better. That is a front harness, from the looks of it.

I just wanted to wish it was just me being stupid and not finding it.
Looks like its the chassis harness

Well, it's almost a 100% positive that at least one harness (if there's not more than 1) is the FRONT harness (that's what it's called in the FSM), it has the fusebox/wiring behind the dash/etc, and goes into a good portion of the engine bay on the drivers side.

The harness that carries the fuel injector plugs and ECU plugs is the EM or EMISSIONS harness as mentioned in a post above. See your FSM and its wiring diagrams for the proper names of the various harness.
The ENGINE harness runs on the left side of the engine bay along with part of the Front harness. The ENGINE harness has wiring for things like the battery, starter, engine bay fuse box wiring, oil pressure wire, CAS, neutral switch and other things shown in the wiring diagram section of the FSM.
If you bought a ENGINE harness and they sold you a FRONT harness, then return it and have them send you the ENGINE harness that runs on the left side of the engine bay (it's what you told 'em you wanted).

From what I can tell thats the main part and there are some that go to the gauge cluster and the idiot lights,
but I don't see anything resembling the part goes through the passenger side grommet which is the part I really needed![Pat](https://www.rx7club.com/images/smilies/pat.gif)
But yea it is all plugged in together.
Thanks will do

Well, it's definitely not the EM harness, and it's nowhere to be seen in any of those pictures so you might want to contact who you bought it from. Can't really figure why or how someone would even mistake them even if you call it the engine harness.

Well you now have spare parts.
When you buy the EM harness for your 1986 non turbo, make SURE it comes from a 1986 or early 1987. After June of 1987 that EM harness changed and the newer harness won't have the plug for the solenoid resistor package located a foot below the afm/air filter..........which you NEED for your 1986. The solenoid resistor connects to the EM harness with a LARGE five wire connector which is somewhat round in shape. Feeds the fuel injectors power.
NEVER buy a TURBO EM harness for you non turbo car. It's wired different than the non turbo and has no alternator wires in it.
