Wiring harness installation.

Hey, i found a great deal on a 88 Rx7, but there is electrical issues, and it comes with a new uncut wiring harness.

I was wondering if there was instructions out there on installing these, my search yielded no results.

-Thanks

It depends on what harness it is. I hope its not the rear harness. That one starts at your fuse box, goes to the left taillight, then wraps around the back to the right rear strut tower. Lots of stuff to remove for that one.

like previously posted it all depends on which particular harness is damaged and needs replacement. there are 7 harnesses.

there is the rear harness, it starts at the fuse box in the drivers kick panel 3 large green plugs on the left side of the fuse panel and runs in the drivers rocker panel, under the drivers seat to the center console for the mirror switch, seat belt reminder and such, goes up the drivers rear inner fender to the rear defrost, rear wiper, drivers rear speaker, over the speaker assembly to the fuel pump and level sender, down the inner fender to the power antenna, around the back to the tail lights, there is a couple of grounds bolted back there, there is a large plug for the auto adjusting suspension, then up the right rear inner fender to the other speaker and finally up the right rear side panel to the other side of the hatch for rear defrost and cargo lamp.

the main/front harness "Y"s off from the fuse box up to the left side of the dash, throught the fire wall next to the brake booster and underneath the clutch master, from there it goes toward the front of car, the battery/power harness plugs in in a few spots, it runs up to the drivers headlight, between the front crossmember and the radiator to the horns and relays, then over to the passenger lights and fuel pump relay and such. it also goes across the firewall from the fuse panel inside the car to the ecu, logicon, the heater/ac assemblies, the right door, down the right side rocker panel to the exhaust overtemp sensor and the passenger door pin. you need to remove the dash (there are directions in the archive to do so) also this harness runs up from in the left corner of the dash to moonroof controls and overhead lights.

then theres the dash harness. it plugs in in a few spots behind the dash to the front/main harness. it runs to the gauge cluster, cig lighter, radio, logicon, speaker amp and such. this one is pretty simple besides pulling the dash.

finally there is the emissions/engine harness. this runs from the ecu in the passenger kick panel, up to 2 junctions in the kick to the main/dash harnesses, plugs into the atmospheric pressure sensor, knock box if you have a turbo (both of which are in the kick panel), then through the firewall on the passenger side, down the frame rail and then "y"s off to the mass air flow sensor, pressure sensor, fuel pot, or across the engine between the alternator and intake, plugs in to the water switch, air control valve, and such, then around to the drivers side of the engine to all the vacuum switches for the "rats nest", then up to the injectors and such. you will need to remover the upper intake manifold the throttle body.

then there is the power/battery harness that runs from the battery to the main fuse panel under the hood, back to the starter and such. this one is kinda tricky in how it attaches to the front/main harness but not horribly complicated.

the last two are the door harnesses. they both run in the doors to the window motors and switches, power mirrors, door lights and such, through the door grommets and plug in at both inner kick panels with 2 medium sized green plugs at each kick panel.

hope some of that helps. dont be overly discouraged. all of this can be removed and reassembled averagely in one weekend for all of it. take your time and follow the wiring and be gentle as the pastic and connectors can be brittle from age, and the dash plastic is pretty brittle too.
