Wiring a Fan... 2x Checking

Ok... A relay has 4 connections. 1's the power, 1's where the power will go, 1's a ground, and the other is a "trigger"... here we go...

To wire a fan, I'd think you'd need a temp switch, and 2 30A relays.

Relay #1 is for the temp switch

Constant = Battery
Ground... = Ground
Power WILL go = Temp Switch
Trigger = 12v+ Acc wire.

Relay #2 is for the fan

Constant = Battery
Ground... = Ground again
Power WILL go = Fan
Trigger = Temp Switch & The A/C Fan switch

Does that sound right? ( It looks a lot better on paper... trust me ) Sorry I don't know terms.

But what about having it on when the A/C is on?

Sorry, missed the bit about the A/C. Put the temp switch on the other side of the relay (the "switched ignition" side), and run a wire from the A/C clutch wire to the same terminal on the realy, i.e. in parallel with the temp switch.

Ok... I'm confused... there are 3 +'s going into the relay??? I'm no Einstein, but I used to be pretty heavy into car audio... and that makes 0 sense to me. Sorry.

*500th post BTW

Here's what I want to accomplish.

I want the Fan to turn on when the temp is too high, or the A/C decides to turn it on. Also, I want it to turn off when I turn off the ignition. That's it.

What do I need to wire?

Refer to it by these letters please.... to make it simple fer' me.

Your relay is basically the same as the one in my diagram, but a lot of automotive relays have the 5th pin I show. You don't need it so don't worry about it.
So it'll be like this:

A - Two wires on this terminal; one that goes from a switched ignition source (enables system only when ignition's on) to the temp switch, then to the relay. the other wire goes from the A/C compressor clutch wire (tap into it) straight to the terminal.

B - From the battery via a 20A fuse.

C - Earth

D - Fan motor.

I'll try to sort out a diagram.

OR - you can just buy the control from Pep Boys with the diodes for manual override and A/C override already there..

OK, here's the new wiring diagram for operating the fan with the A/C.

Shouldn't I use a relay for the switched ignition to the temp. sensor? Or does it have a low draw? ( Looks like I got it right tho! )
