Question wire to where??????????

I'm working at re-installing my 13B. I found a thin wire (about 22-24 gauge) that I can't find a place to attach. The wire comes up from under the intake, right between the intake tubes. It doesn't have a connector on it right now.........I'm not sure if it is supposed to have one but I assume it should. I can't really tell exactly where it comes from without removing the intake (and I'd rather not have to).

help

Yeah, find your O2 sensor on the exhaust manifold, and follow the wiring from it until you find a loose end or a connector that's connected...

If you find a "loose end", that just might be it...

Question

The wire is black. About 2 inches from the open end, the wire has a beige sleeve/insulation type covering. Resistance from the open end of the wire to ground is about 2 meg ohms. Could it be a ground wire.

Umm, that's not a very good way to figure out if it's a ground or not...

Did the O2 sensor search pan out?

Another way to check to see if it's a ground is to check for voltage with the car on/running, and with every conceivable electrical item on. If you never get voltage on it, it MAY be a ground...

Question

I found the O2 sensor and it is hooked up properly. The battery isn't in yet. I was hoping to find where the wire attaches before attempting to start the motor for the first time. The wire is a really small gauge. Probably >22 ga. If all else fails, I guess I can just tape the end and see what happens. I can't find any place where the wire would attach. If its a ground wire.......well, maybe it won't matter much. But these engines are sure picky about their grounds. Darn..........and things were going back together so smoothly.

I can't believe it............but it was the O2 sensor wire. Thanks to 'therotaryrocket' and 'wayne88n/a' for ponting me in the right direction. My boyfriend was helping hook up the wiring and hoses and he attached the O2 sensor wire to a ground .......so, when I checked it the first time I thought it was already attached correctly. Boy, you can't let guys do anything.
