CT Wire tuck interrupted

I am currently in the process of tucking the wires in my engine bay, to tidy things up a bit, and I stopped because something just dawned on me...<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
1. The car is an '87 NA, which in about 3 months I plan to swap out the motor for a 13B RE, does that motor use the same harness, or will I need a completely new harness for the swap?<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
2. Also, I plan on using aftermarket gauges for pretty much my entire interior, fuel, tach, spedo, boost, oil pressure, temp, etc, do people usually use the factory wiring for these when they swap gauges, or do most people use new wiring and just cut off the old wiring? On a few of my past projects (none RX7's) I've had to do it both ways, depending on the car.

1. you will use a different harness.
2. you will add wires for the gauges. don't cut the old wiring.

Both harnesses are different? There is the one on the drivers side of the bay for one set of coils/ horn/ drviers side headlight/ radiator, then there is the other side of the bay for the other coil pack, headlights, etc...

(Does anyone have a turbo harness for sale? So I can tuck that one, leave the stock one where it is for now, then when I have the new motor just take out the stock one and be 1 step ahead of the game?)

you are going to need a stand alone...

So should I continue to tuck my current wire, for the headlights, horn, coil packs, and then add the stand alone unit once I get the motor ready to go in?

I am just trying to avoid having to do more work than needed...

You don't need a standalone. I'm going to be running my RE with a S5 turbo for now off of my S4 T2 ECU, harness, and coils. I'm going standalone when I get my brdige port and 42R.

You can run the RE on a stock s5 harness and computer but I believe you have to change the tps connector? Don't count me on that.

Yes. You have to rewire the TPS, because the S5, RE and REW TPS are narrow and high range, and the S4 is only narrow, IIRC. It's only a few wires.

So I can use the current harness? I am getting so many conflicting answers on this, from all different sources... Stock wiring harness, just change the connectors attaching to the ECU?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Obviously, the ECU will need to be swapped as well, correct?<o:p></o:p>

You have to use a T2 harness. And that is proven to work. In order to use the T2 ECU you have to switch to a single turbo, either a S4 or a S5 or equivalent.

Correct, you also need the afm/map sensor.

Yeah, that too, thanks Scott. And T2 drivetrain, lol. I doubt the NA will hold up to the RE.

well it depends if he has the stock tires. he will break traction before he breaks gears.

you can tuck the driver's side harness, most likely you will be keeping that. that harness has your tach, oil pressure gauges in it. the coolant sensor wire goes through the engine harness for some reason. also the tranny harness can be tucked.

It is highly recommended to run a standalone for the Cosmo 13B-RE motor.
Yes, it can be done on an FC 13BT stock engine harness, but this is a band-aid install which cannot control the Cosmo 13B-RE engine efficiently.
Since the Cosmo 13B-RE engine came out of a different car, you can't expect everything to just plug right in...

You're "planning" this swap?

Sounds like you need to do a bit more reading...
