Windshield wiper motor or switch??
well my windshield wipers only work on one speed (medium). i have bought and tested 2 different switches now and all of them have had the same problem. I know the switches often **** out but i find it unlikely to have 3 bad eggs. Also when i turn the switch to another setting or to the off position they just stop, they dont return to the rest position. So could this be the wiper motor?? And is there any way to test the switch and the motor??

It IS a relay inside the switch. It is NOT uncommon to go to the wrecking yard and pick another BAD switch (relay inside the switch).
I'd bet large bucks that the motor is ok.
Almost all the motor is looking for, is pwr from the wiper fuse and a ground on either the blue/white wire at the motor or the blue/red wire at the motor. Having the key to ON and then applying a ground to either of those wires at the wiper motor will make the wipers move, more of less letting you know the motor/windings are good.
Have someone rebuild your wiper switch using two new relays. The relays cost maybe two to three bucks apiece. Buy them from MOUSER online. Located in Mansfield TX. I just buy them thru the mail. It's cheaper than driving the ten miles.
Do a Search for WIPER RELAYS for part numbers.

komprssorlogis is trying to make my MOUSER stock take a nose dive. Cease and desist!
Here are the hits I got for WIPER RELAY and HAILERS: https://www.rx7club.com/search.php?searchid=4529985

Agreed. I bought a relay from him to fix my wiper switch with great results. He even sent me a ton of extra Logicon bulbs for almost nothing. Good guy to deal with. Perhaps if you contact him he might give you a part number of the relay that you need.
Also, the wiper motor has a "park switch" built inside it that allows the wipers to come down all the way once they get about an inch or two from the stop position. It's a simple set of contacts, and rarely does it fail, but still possible. Just a little FYI.

This thread has a pic with the traces mapped out for what would need to be jumpered if you dammaged any traces. https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/sureshot-wiper-fix-728562/

First of all, he still sells the relays at www.mazdamark.com. Its relay 1 on the parts page. I got it and replaced it myself, and it works great. He also has full directions, and is super nice to deal with. As for your "repaired" one, its very possible that you damaged a trace. It is VERY easy for a novice to do this when working with circuit boards.
If for some reason you find that the motor actually is bad, I have one for sale. I have verified that it is good.

i had a chance to check the motor..... defiantly not bad. it is the switch. i tried to re wire the relay contacts according to Icemark's diagram and the only thing that changed is now the wipers park. at least i know what the problem is. but i somehow shorted out the switch so now i don't have any wipers lol. anyone have a wiper switch for sale... good or bad doesn't matter lol

Okay guys.
One speed (med) indicates that you have a bad relay #1
No med speed, but intermittent and high works fine, means a bad relay #2 (as long as you have not worked on the switch yet).
S4 GXL/Turbo switch shown, S5 switches simular
Not stopping, indicates something bad with the motor.
Stopping but not returning to the down position when the switch is turned off, indicates a bad trace or bad relay #2... but if you just worked on the switch and replaced relay #1, chances are 99% that you have a bad trace.
Rear wiper not working or no intermittent, indicates a bad relay #3.
Relay #1 and #3 are the same part number and interchangable, however relay #2 is a differnt type of relay.
Convertibles and coupes without a rear wiper will not have a relay #3.

What about if the intermittent setting sometimes works but then stops randomly and stays on the windshield. but always works on medium and high. As well when I push down on the **** for a quick one swipe I have to hold it till the wipers return, if not they will stop when I release the switch?
No one is really having the same problem as me are they?
This is a S4 with no rear wiper btw.
