will this be ok for a rebuild??(posting for someone)
somone imed me, extreamly pissed about this, and asked if i could post it up for him.. give your honest opinion if you would use this..

Yeah, for an iron that is such a cheap and easily found item, I wouldnt fool with it if I had the choice, but if I needed to do a rebuild and time/money was a big factor, then I would.
That said, I have seen weakened castings last quite a while like that. You could always reinforce that area in a triangular joint with something like jb stick weld or devcon or something to keep it from collapsing in later. Castings usually only break toward the lower half of the engine, where combustion occurs, and the highest temps/pressures also occur. That casting is up near the intake port, after most of the exhaust gases have passed out of the engine, a point of relatively low stress. I think it would ride okay there.
