what the hell's an FC3C?

If it's an N/A then yeah, you'll have problems...your pot actuators won't work propperly. If it's a turbo then don't worry about it.

its should be fine to leave until you can remove it... though...

being an s4, your auxilary intake ports (6pi system) are activated by backpressure via the ACV tube that is connected to the cat. with this line disconnected you have a few choices:

-leave the 6pi and VDI system as is and suffer the top end power loss (please dont do this...)
-remove the 6pi sleeves (will offer some top end improvement, but is still not reccomended.
-activated the 6pi and VDI system via the stock air pump or aftermarket electric pump (reccomended!!)
-run a vacuum tube to the cockpit and blow in it everytime you are running over 3800RPM (good luck...)

@Mak: FC3C = vert

s4's don't have VDI.

You should have gotten this type of presilencer:

http://www.racingbeat.com/resultset....rtNumber=16206

It's got a little hose for you to keep your working 6ports.

If you drive an S4, then yes.

(can't remember if the S5's have the backpressure tube)

that's racing beat right? (i thought i said i got the stuff from racing beat) but actually that's not the right one(you'll notice that it directs you to a different part number for my car) http://www.racingbeat.com/resultset....rtNumber=16209 that's the link to the stuff i got.

also jono, i know on the S5's the ACV controls the 5th/6th ports, but on S4's could i'm scratching my head as to what the ACV has to do with opening the ports. i was under the impression the whole reason to get the racing beat piece was for that pressure pickup. and if the ACV is necessary on S4's why is racing beat saying it needs to be removed(don't point out that they say the same on S5's cause i already know)

yes having that much of a free flow exhaust and that tube not hooked up will cause them not to function, a lack of power above 5000 rpm would be a symptom.

there are several routes you can use to make them work again, the easyest is just to remove the pots, and zip tie the ports in the open position ans you will keep your high end power, however you will loose some low end torque. some other ways are discussed in the FAQ section and archives

yes the s5 does have that tube, as the tube is still used for the air pump to supply air to the cat to keep it happy
