Will this cause problems?

If I use my fuel cut switch to kill the engine just before turning it off all the time, will this cause problems?
I am doing this as there have been a few times recently where the car will not start, hot or cold (even using the fuel cut switch). I have found that by doing this, it will start every time.

I have heard of people suggesting that for cars that flood a lot, so I don't see why it would hurt anything. The car will run lean for a couple seconds, but not long enough to do any damage. I used to do it with mine when a mechanic would be driving it, so that it won't flood when they try to start it...of course, it doesn't go to the mechanic these days, so that's not a problem.

Shouldn't hurt anything, as long as your foot's off the gas when you turn the switch to "off".

If the flooding problem has just started happening, you might look at a different brand of gasoline or running some Techron thru it to see if that helps... just a thought.

The no-start got so bad that I took it to a Mazda dealership (yes yes, I know ... you may all take turns hitting me over the head with a broken bottle ), and they told me the ignition coils were shot. CA$800 later, and I still had the some problem... sometimes. I had it towed there, and it started up fine everytime for them

This seems to be the only way I know for sure to get it to start... and no, I'm not pressing the gas peddle when I turn it off (I may be gullible, but not stupid )

I know that having no gas at high revs will quickly detonate the engine, but I figured at idle it should be no problem for a few seconds.

That method works, but it's just a band-aid for the real problem. Go read this thread.
I also suggest you take some action against that dealer for replacing what were probably perfectly good coils. If their work didn't fix your problem, you shouldn't be paying for it!

Hmmm, since I have had the injectors replaced, and I don't shut the engine off if is cold, the only thing left is the ECU. Should I have that replaced, or the software rewritten?
