Will 89 BACV work??? plz help

Hi all! I'm still fairly new to the forum, and have searched for an answer but can't seem to find one!! I have an 88' N/A and according to the specs in the book my BACV is toast!! Resistance on it should be, I belive 10.7-12.3 ohms, and it's sitting around 13.4-13.7ohms! When I apply 12v to it, it clicks, but it doesn't seem to work when plugged in!!! Can I use an 89 BACV????? The one from the dealer is just to expensive!!!
Thanks to all before hand for any help!!

Will it not work because of different resistance values and or connector?? or because it's mounted on the other side of the dynamic chamber?? I can always make a new bracket to relocate it!!!Where is the difference???
Thanks for the quick reply!!
