there is a centering spring from left to right and right to left, the one that pushes the shifter back from the left side tends to break.

explain it in a little more detail, did it feel like it was stuck in any particular gear or was it grinding or trying to force the car to try and move while trying to go into gear?

could be a clutch or slave cylinder problem, only way to determine is by watching the slave cylinder pushrod while someone is pressing the pedal while this phenomenon is occurring.

ok i just got back from driving it and the problem is suddenly gone!!??? but when it happened i went to put it in first and there was a very strong force pushing back on my hand.no grinding just a wall wouldnt move any farther..i turned the car off put it in gear and then it started to grind like metal or something then nothing.it kinda started to grind a couple of times while i was driving it but it stopped and hasnt done it in about 30min.??
oh and karack i never installed that spring you were talking about.unfortanitly for me i didnt find out about it until the tranny was already in the car.oh and yea it was pushing the car while i was trying to get into gear.

sounds like the master cylinder bypassed temporarily but it could be an internal tranny issue, hard call to make.... if it is an n/a tranny then i would probably just drive it since you can find them locally in wrecking yards if anything does happen to be wrong with it.
