****I challenge anyone to have a consistant 1v @ Idle, repetitively. I'm begining to think It's damn near Impossible****
Hey! Here! Over here! Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Mr.1volt!
******I can recall very few posts about replacing S5 TPS's*****
I beg your pardon. All I ever read about concerning tps, is those new fangled series five folk wanting to know how to adjust their tps's.
Frankly I don't see anything complex about the auxillary ports on a series four or series five. One thing about it that still amazes me is the sturdyness of the actuators. They sit there next to the exaust year after year and don't deteriorate (same can't be said about the diaphrams in the turboii acv, though).
And what is so complex about the throttle body? A little piston expanding when the water gets warm/hot and shoving a mechanical cam off a roll pin. Whuff. Complex my ***. Even I can figure out how that works.
The only thing complex that I found about the throttle body, was the wanna be mechanic that owned the turbo car prior to me had removed the damper for the secondary throttles and I couldn't for the life of me figure how that thing was supposed to work, until I was informed that there should be a damper there. The FSM is a bit lame when dealing with the double throttle/damper/black cam/rigging of said parts.
Darn. What was the slur about a shrunken Kiwi or whatever, that was posted above? Kind of a squid remark for someone to make, but given that authors self portrait (purple character at the end of the post above), I understand you have a bit of a personal problem and probably can't help yourself. But its not necessary to put your self portrait at the end of your posts. Darn queer looking character.

The problem is that the signal voltage for the narrow range TPS, as measured at the TPS with ignition ON, changes everytime I switch the key OFF then ON again. In other words, the voltage does not seem to stabilize between turning the key OFF and ON. I've been using the narrow range ground at the TPS for my ground point. If I recall, the FSM doesn't mention anything about where to ground the volt meter. I also noticed that if I use the engine as a ground point (versus the TPS ground point), my voltage readings are different. I'm wondering if the problem may be the ground connection at/within the ECU. Shouldn't the narrow range TPS ground and engine ground be at the same potential? If the TPS ground (black/brown wire) is a poor conncetion and is floating, than the TPS signal voltage would also float as a result of the poor ground. Any thoughts on this?

Hot_Dog....you know the brown/black wire is spliced with about four other sensors into the same wire. And that all splices are not equal if made on a Monday of the week/? I use the ground AT the battery for my meter's ground. I know your question was not directed to me. Just two cents worth.

Why so much BS about such a simple thing??
The TPS is adjustable because the idle stop is adjustable.
Just set it to 1K ohms with the fast idle cam pulled off.
The ECU will calibrate itself from there.

silverrotor....well, I fudged just a tiny bit. I have a test connector inside the car and I noticed that it's around 1.05 today, fully warmed up. Series four car.
If we didn't have tps writeups, this forum wouldn't have anything on it half the time

HAILERS, silverrotor...thanks for your feedback. Maybe I need to go back recheck some of these ground points. I've never had a problem with the TPS on the original engine. It seems that during the period the car sat dormant for nearly 8 months, until I got the new engine in, I've had a number of minor electrical glitches.

So far, I think I mentioned, that I have removed the secondary Throttle Plates. That Is where the gains of the "TB Mod" are made anyway. What I'll do Is completly assess the Thermowax than remove It along with the Fast Idle Cam etc.
From there, I'll test and retest the TPS' Voltage and report back...
HAILERS, just when I thought you whoed me with a consistant 1V.
