Why Are My Brakes Squealing? =(

Before my brake squealed when I was driving, not pressing the brake. They would stop squealing when I pushed in the brake.

I looked at my pads, and they had plenty of wear left, but the metal plate in the back of them was trash. Also, part of the pad on one was coming off.

Solution: New Pads

New Problem: Brakes are now squealing WHILE pushing the brake in.

What causes this squealing and how can I fix it?

Thx for all the infomation you bring.

What kind of pads did you put on? If you put something with a high copper content then they are going to squeel and grind, nothing you can do. If you put stock equivalent pads on then it may just be because they are new. Take them out somewhere and stomp on them a few times.

Well, I'm a college man so I don't have that much cash to put on some real good pads.

Stock AutoZone pads are the ones I put on.

Bah, you can get front and rear Axis metal masters for < $120.

Anyways just jump on a somewhat empty freeway and make a few quick stops from about 70mph. That should fix it, if not I think theres something you can buy for the rotors that will make them stop squeeking dont remember what it is thou.

You can try putting some grease on your caliper pins (dun know if you have 4-piston) and some anti-squeal on the backs of your pads, which is basically silicone.

Single Piston

I put that anti-squeal stuff on the back on the pads and it worked for a few hours.

I'll try giving the brake a few good stops.

Any other experts giving opinions is cool too.

Thx.

If the squeeling stops when pedal pressed hard, put anti squeel solution on back of pads. Pads are moving ever so slightly against the piston(s).
While slowing down, and squeeling is present, step on brakes harder and see if it stops. Apply above.

That's exactly what it does, Turbonut.

I put some of that crap on them before I put the new pads on. They worked good for a day, then started squealing. :|

I will buy more, and cake that stuff on.
