Question why dosn't my tach work?

all the other gauges work in the cluster but my tach. I tried a new gauge cluster, and wiring the tach to my battery and i still can't get a signal out of it. What the @## is wrong with it. I don't want to get an aftermarket tach if i don't have to, never was a fan of aftermarket tachs.

thanks

Also try testing the trailing coil and make sure it is working, and you are getting a signal out of it..

I don't think that would work b/c he said he tried a new guage cluster, and probably both tachs wern't busted.

I have the same problem as you. I have tried replacing the trailing coil out w/ my friends and that didn't work.

Does anyone else have anyother idea of why the tach would not function. I was thinking maybe it could be a blown fuse. Could this be true, and if so which one?

the wiring harnesses in our cars are at least 13 years old! so it is quite likely that the wire that goes from your trailing coil to your tack is quite simply broken somehwere along the lines... or corroded! This happned to my engine harness from the cas to the ECU when i still had the stock ECU.
