hey amused even the best drifters use the Ebrake in there cars when you feel yyour car startiung to understeer pull it to brake the backs loose and the control with throttle and steering adjustments.

i guess my feeling is that i'd rather learn how to break it out by using weight transfer and throttle control over the e-brake method.

i wish there were more open lots to work in but most stuff around here is so small that only 1st gear suffices.. i'm overprotective of the car and so i dont try messing around on the public streets (plus theyre so cruddy in massachusetts you have no clue what you're gonna get)

i hate driving the car in the snow but then again its the only time when i really have any fun. i'll look into the adjustable shocks. the previous owner dropped my suspension a bit but i'm not sure exactly what is back there.

this spring i need to replace most of the wear items anyway. all the bushings are shot among other things :-/ and i think it might be time to invest in some better motor mounts.

Just a Few Thoughts

Can't Drift??
Well honestly i never had a problem Drifting my car or getting it sideways.You said you try it in a parking lot??

Well i will let you on in a secret.
Parking lots have alot of OIL on them.So i don;t think it's really a safe place to practice, also because of the diffrence in traction in doffrent parts of the parking lot..

Also mabey youre not going fast enough.
Or pulling the e-brake enough..
Are you transfering the weight correctly?
There could be alot of reasons why you can;t get it to turn in.
Suspention tuning?
camber,caster,toe ect.
Not enough power??
Well the way i bust parking lot doughnutz or skid pad drifts around a pole usually i start it with a "power over" drift.
Power Over;
while either stopped or moving,clutch in(disengaged)
Rev engine up then while shifting the weight or direction you turn pop the clutch out creating a traction loss to the rear tires.countersteer before your rear gets out too much while controlling the power to the rear tires.By this time you should be holding a balanced drift(moving while countersteering and balanced steering)

Used mostly when going a little slower then the highest speed around a turn.Car will most likely Accelerate through the turn during power over drifting.

E-Brake;
While moving shift weight or turn while keeping a steady rev,puch the clutch in turn while pulling e brake to get traction loss in the rear,then while reving up the engine pop the clutch out,balancing the steering and gas are crucial to getting a drift going.

This technique Is usually used to start a drift from farther away from the turn you wanna drift.Then usually followed by a power over in the turn.

All drifting techniques can be put together also.
sometimes i power over a drift and during i feel like i can power enough\understeer,so i will ,while sliding\drifting,pop the clutch in again pull the e brake get a better angle and controll it again with throttle, power over or weight transfer.. so yea.. there is alot to drifting(technical)and there isn't( after you practiced).

The most important thing is to find a OPEN or area where there isnt pavement deformalities and or no Parking lots becausee the oil that settles from leaking cars.Free of people also.We all wanna be safe first.Than have fun.
