Why do my eletrical systems act so screwey anytime my car gets wet?

What is cauyidsng things like my instrument cluster to not light and problems crnaking and such when my car gets wet as in rained on or washed. I have numerous eletrical problems for about a day after i wash it

the water is shorting out the electrical system...somewhere in there the water is getting into the electricals.
