Well this is my experience. I like all Sports cars. I even have a few FC owners in the ar and FB owners even but no one will wave back at me. I think this is due to they are not car enthusists. On the other hand if I were in an FC or FB and waved at them I might think they didnt wave because they were snobs or had no respect for my FC,FB. I think its a matter of Envy you guys are getting all worked up about FD owners. I own an FD and I liek all the RX-7's. I just liek the FD the best. Thats why I own one. Also the FD does perform better. But isnt that what you want in a newer model? I think you guys have issues.

Well Since
I own both a FC and FD I could really care less what car anybody drives as long as its powered by a rotary I wave and honk to people that I see in their FB's and FC's when in the R1 and I don't get any response. I've had my FC longer than my FD and it is still my favorite, I'd even like to get a 1st gen some day. I have seen some FD owners who don't respect when I'm driving (not anyone on this forum)my FC and I tend to agree that they don't even know what a RX-7 is, so I can really care less what the hell they think.

It's interesting to know, but if you are only interested in driving an RX7 with X horsepower, and you have no technical or mechanical experience whatsoever, you start by buying kits, and paying others to do the install. I was once at a traffic light beside an FD owner that had nice wheels on it and a fully bodykit. I was going to make eye contact with the driver and passenger and give 'em the THUMBS UP for such a nice looking car, but instead I got stared down with an EVIL LOOK and a bored expression from the driver after ! When an FD owner looks over and sees an Turbo FC beside him, I think all he sees/thinks about the FC is:
- An OLD school car that looks worse then his and isn't worth looking at
- A car short of an extra turbocharger and probably SLOWER
- A car worth as much as his 18" tires/wheels package
- Probably thinking that this poor FC owner beside me is probably drooling over my nice FD right now...so let him stare and **** his pants while I just chill at the light.
That' what I think and that's the feeling I get from these FD owners! I wish they'd just respect the fact that we all drive RX7s and should be happy to see each other and show each other MORE respect!

A 2nd. Gen. is a good street car you can race.
A 3rd. Gen. is a race car you can drive on the streets.
Have you ever driven a 3rd. gen? They are awesome handling cars!
One of my buddies has one, and my TII is faster than his! He has put $30K in to his car, I have put less than $10K in to mine. If we were to race on the twisties, he would kill me!
I definately want to own a 3rd. gen. some day. They are so beautiful!
I think 2nd. gens. are still a beautiful car, just not as beautiful as their big brother.

I personally don't what people think but I am sure a large portion of FD owners prolly don't know there was an Rx7 before theres so wouldn't even know that they are looking at an FC, lol. Now there are plenty of people who know all about other 7s that own FDs, just gotta go with the majority.

There all gonna laugh at you. THERE ALL GONNA LAUGH AT YOU. I think that 1st gen. and 2nd gen people are more aware they are in an RX-7. 3rd gen people bought the car cus its an expensive sports car. thats a general assumption. RX-8 owners will be worse.

I don't think it's a matter of envy, and I don't think any of these guys have issues.
I think the thing here is that FC guys develop a closer relationship with their cars, and therefore they have come to love and appreciate what they have more than a typical FD owner who just takes his car to the shop when it breaks. It hurts when people look down on you because they think that what you have is inferior and not worthy of attention, even though you've put so much time and love into the car.
I know not all FD owners just "take it to the shop", but I would bet that a higher percentage of FC owners actually roll back their sleeves and wrench on their cars than FD owners.
If somebody ignors me because he thinks his car is better than mine, that's fine because ******** like that are not worth my time. Fortunately, I've never had to deal with people like this. Most of the folks I've encountered with newer turbocharged cars like FD's, VR-4's, Supra's, etc. have spoken with me as an equal, because that's what I am.
RELVINNIAN, if you think ignorant kids are annoying, then educate them. You have no right to complain if you've done nothing to fix the problem.

If it makes you all feel better one of my brother-in-law's friends told me he likes the look of my car better than a 3rd gen.I only know one person with a FD and he had FCs before so I haven't ran into what you are talking about. There aren't any other FDs around my area so his is the only one I ever see.

It's not just the FD to FC issue. Even the NA and T2 issue is always there. A lot of people with T2 dont respect the guys in NA just because htey dont do 12s or 13s or even 14s in the quarter mile.
And back to that FD thing. Ever had someone asked what kind of car you drive. Once they hear is a RX-7, they get all excited, but then once htey found out is not the twin turbo. They will be like "oh".
And here is another classic one. Most riceboys just like to come up to me and go "I am going to buy a 2001 twin turbo rx-7" or "I am going to buy a 95 since it is the newest"

n/a RX-7's can be every bit as fast as a Turbo II, you just have to drive them in places where power means less and skill means more. On some of my favorite roads, excessive power can actually be a bad thing for performance.

As an owner of a TII and a FD both purchased new, I can tell you the FD kicks the TII's butt in any way you care to measure (except trunk space). I love both cars and will keep both for many more years. I am not snobbish towards 1st and 2nd gen owners and in fact have given advice to many of their owners. I have ten years road racing experience and know what handling is, and you better believe the FC will never outhandle the FD. These are both serious sports cars which is why I bought them. I don't care what X amount of money will produce on a dyno for drag racing. FC owners should realize they have a nice handling car with enough power (stock) to be fun, but there are many new cars today that rival them performance wise. Ignore the snobs.
