sorry could not get the picture today - was putting the engine in the car and got a little preoccupied. i will try to do it before i get the exhaust in tomorrow
a bolt's stretch strength is amazing... feel free to look up the stretch strength of a grade 8 bolt... if i remember correctly - it take tons to rip one in half by pulling on both ends... add welds on both ends of it - that bracket is nearly indestructable
but... you could have someone trying to sell you mounts so you could weld it in your car.... you have to measure it, test fit and find the spot, then rip out your whole interior, and have fun with that carpet... and then when you are done - wait for it to cool off, and have to put everything back

What are the dimension of the channel section, if you have the designation what is it, and also what is the material? Do the motor mounts abosorb some of the weight of the transmission? I'll do a few calculations once I get the dimensions. I have bought several items off of Banzai, and he has always given me extremely great prices. He has advised me and aided me when it came to decisions on what could be done to the specific modification I was doing, to help longevity, durability, and strength.

I had an S5 that used the "poorly engineered" cantilevered mount. It had intake/exhaust, and a solid hub six puck clutch. I practiced dumping the clutch at 5000 rpm regularly, and never had a problem with the mount, and I drove that car everyday.

Woohoo back from the dead. Glad to see some new replys
Oddly enough I havent put it in the car yet because I haven't found a suitable mount yet, so keep the ideas flowin if you got em.

in my opinion the best ADAPTOR STYLE bracket is the one proposed in the "complete auto to manual write up" but using 2" thick steel bar. it still uses the stock manual crossmember, but the steel bars mount it onto the original auto mounts. i'll be using this method in my swap.

I had Kevin do my S5 auto to manual swap 4 years ago,
(I do believe it was even maybe his first swap on an S5, because it took a while for us to figure out that the tranny comp had to be disconnected for the engine to run correctly)
Anyway, I used an old clutch and used to drive VERY hard and wore it out in about 7 months. I then had Kevin replace the clutch for me and he noticed that the mount had slipped a little on the tranny stem and damaged the treads, (this damage was caused by my crazy driving on a certain backroad near my house with a good jump in it, hit it at 60 and you get about 2.5 feet off the ground and travel at least 75-80 feet before touching back down, and I did this about twice a week) Anyway, when he saw the damage he reinforced the bracket with some nice welding. And I have been driving pretty aggressively, including off-road rally racing and a few smaller jumps for another 30K miles in the past 3 years and have had zero problems with it. It is still perfectly aligned and rock steady.
I give Kevins adapter a big thumbs up, when done correctly.
P.S. Kevin, I'll be in the market for a rebuild/port job in a year or so...hope you'll still be doing it then.
