A Turbo, V8, or a supercharger... really isn't a normally aspirated bad ass 13B.

I posted my non-turbo 13B 'vert putting out around 200 FWHP and meeting CA emissions a couple months back if you want to search.

nonameo 04-13-04 06:35 PM

haha... I know someone near savannah that has/will have a badass n/a :D

"200 FWHP" wow how hard it is to convert to FWD..lol
j/k anybody who gets 200hp and still passes smog in cali is bad ass

BDoty311 04-13-04 07:10 PM

Um... when he said fwhp, he was referring to flywheel horsepower, not front wheel.

PureSephiroth 04-13-04 07:13 PM

you have to convert it to produce power at the flywheel? That's not good. Back to the drawing board.

???

Okay maybe this will help the jokers...

between 160 and 170 rear wheel dyno horse power (depending on the dyno)

That is up from the 112- 120 rear wheel dyno horse power that a normally aspirated stock FC has.

von 04-13-04 07:55 PM

160rwp stock ports and ECU. Shifted at 8500rpms and 2550lbs full interior

Peripheral Port engines can be built to be quite reliable..
I've heard of N/A PP's lasting near on 80,000km's...
All depends how careful you are with blocking the water off, as 99% of the time that is how they fail.

While I personally would not call my newly rebuilt n/a engine 'bad ass' at all, it has reasonably aggressive intake ports and quite large exhaust ports.. So after it's run in i'll have to take it to a dyno to get a bit of a reading.

Before this engine blew I had a turbo(slightly bigger than a stock one) strapped onto the side of a completly stock 150,000km old N/A engine which was making quite good butt dyno power and did some really good burnouts. Only reason it blew was because of a fsck up on my part (wategate issue... 18psi.. stock injectors.. search for the post I made about it a while back no point cluttering up this thread)

But if you want a real 'bad ass' N/A fc without a turbo or supercharger you'd need either a bridgeport or Peripheral port IMHO. You could buy a 'crate' sort of BP engine from some of the race engine builders here in Oz(no doubt elsewhere aswell) that make ~300hp.. Very well built engines.. Expect to pay through the roof though, it costs alot more money to get the same ammount of power out of an N/A engine than it does a supercharged engine(turbos included in that...)

A lot of you would realize how bad ass they are once you get the idea out of your head that it's a drag car..........

Um... it was a joke guys

I see, dont scare me there.

And yes N/As are still RX-7s, they can still handle a road course or autoX like its nobodies business. Hell an modded n/a can outhandle a modded TII due to the weight difference.

Relisys190 04-13-04 10:14 PM

My car aint fast, but it sure is fun!

Mods listed in link to Teamfc3s.org garage page...
Peak HP listed in sig.

i suppose 20bs would be badass n/a :P

87na 04-14-04 11:17 AM

A healthy dose of n20 made lots of ppl think my n/a is badass.. i think it still needs to be faster

xfeastonarsex 04-14-04 11:36 AM

thats what I was about to say. :)

von 04-14-04 12:17 PM

SO does badass ONLY mean going faster than a highly modded TII ???

Thats not my definition.

87na 04-14-04 12:25 PM

technically thats not an n/a...naturally aspired..umm yea

Bebesito21 04-14-04 12:45 PM

Full bridge, Greddy Emanage, TII tranny, TII diff, CAI, RB header, HKS Exhaust, 200 Shot N20, alcohol injection too, and some other stuff......

I think thats pretty bad ass, and its reliable.

-Ted, I had no idea an engine bay could look so beautiful. What sort of numbers do you plan to run? HP wise. Keep up the good work man. I'd assume your going to paint the exterior green as well, correct?

That thing is gunna have ASSLOADS of tourqe, lol

Everything is related to relitivity. A N/A that runs 13's in the quarter in my opinion is not always, in my opinion "badass". If you want a drag car then yes a 13 sec N/A rx-7 is bad ass. If you like audio equiptment then an FC with 10k in subs and tv's is bad ass to you... To me my 87 SE is pretty bad ass. I can Have a lot of fun autocrossing with it while being very competitive, It looks good, it is a pretty reliable daily driver and I can smoke any kid with a "fixed up" honda in town. I get respect from the drag racing croud with the 70's fierebirds built out the nose, even though i can't beat them I can pull on them in a couple gears as well as hang out near there rear bumpers stoplight to stoplight. The rx-7's are good looking, reliable and are a blast to drive even without the surge of a turbo. I love my 87se and i probably will go turbo some day when i have more cash, but in the mean time i am going to make my N/A as bad aass as I can afford.....
