These cars are stupidly easy to get into...Generally it takes me under 10 seconds with a Slim-Jim, but sometimes up to about a minute or so. 90% of the time, my FC key defeats the steering wheel lock in other cars, but I still have to hotwire....

when mine was broken into they tried to pick the driver side door, pry and poke holes into the sunroof but finally got in by driving in the trunk lock into the car...

what did they get? ........ Nothing, they threw my spare down the street. Aparently they broke into 4 other cars just causing damage and nothing else.

Um, dude...
This is a stupid thread.
It's obvious that a bunch of kids did it.
Japan cars are notorious for very thin metal in the doors.
You can literally jam a screwdriver in the lock and crank it as hard as you can, and this will "unlock" due to the thin metal twisting.
It's also very common to pry the door handle "panel" and pull the lock levers - same smell.

If you think having an indestructible lock will prevent people from stealing your ****, remember this...
The fastest way to break into a car is to BREAK THE GLASS.
So what if you have indestrutible locks...
So what you have an alarm...
A rock sitting right next to your car will aid in getting inside.
REMEMBER THAT.

So how can you MINIMIZE thieves from breaking into the car?
DON'T get a nice shiny deck installed in plain view.
If you want a nice head unit, HIDE IT.
DON'T slam your sounds all over the place.
HIDE all items of value.
HIDE anything that will make a thief think it's valuable - even stupid **** like envelopes, CDs, loose change - it only takes 5 seconds to break your glass and take items like this laying around.
And if you think getting dark tint will help - guess again, it usually make thieves more curious enough to break into your car to see inside.

Try to keep your car as crappy looking as possible.
YOU GOT A YELLOW CAR - it's screaming LOOK AT ME.
If you're going to paint your car like this, EXPECT to attract attention - this is what you wanted, right?
Too bad you cannot attract the "right" attention and not the bad ones, right?

Yes, reality sucks, but use some common sense...

Oh come on dDub, you have been here long enough to know better...Nice way to spread another dumb *** rumor...

The only reason that a FC would work in another car is if the owner never maintained the locks and the key locks are full of crap and dirt.

The dirt jamms up the tumblers then any key... hell even a Toyota key would turn the lock if the tumblers were full of crap.

And based on the pictures in this thread, where almost every one of them have the Key hole guards broken out and not fixed, I would be countless RX-7's have gummed up, craped out key locks.

Ever notice how "someone elses" key never opens the trunks??? Its because the Trunk locks don;t get used as much as the door locks and get all gummed up inside.

The odds of another FC key really working your door locks are more than 20000 to 1 when brand new. The odds today with all the FCs dead in junk yards are much much higher.

my buddys camaro used to be able to start with any key then pull it out and it would stay running. I had a guy use broken spark plug ceramic to spider my rear hatch glass, pushed it right into the back of the car. Stole my paintball gear, and a half full tool box.

Hah, it's funny you should say that. I'm an installer in Portland, OR at Circuit City and I replace stereos alllll the time. You're right, 99% of the time it's a smashed window.

Even happened to my FC in our own parking lot!

FC lock cylinders are a joke. They are so easy to break open it's not even funny.
Instead of investing $$$ into elaborate alarm systems, why not just put a fuel pump cut off switch??

I am one of those guys that has two cars that the keys are identical, or so close to the point that a tiny bit of wear makes both keys completely interchangable. Both RX keys I have work all locks in both cars. And yes, my locks are clean and well lubricated. I started a thread about the whole key thing a few months ago and remember your posts.

any older car is easy to get into. ive locked my keys in my car twice this week(i have no idea why) btu managled to pop the door lock by using a coat hanger.

but i think FCs are pretty easy to steal. the door locks are easy to pop, the steering column surround is easily unscrewed, the key ignition and the switch are held together by one screw, and the steering lock is weak. thus leading me to install serveral cutoff switches.

Carb cleaner spray then put some dry graphite in there. Work it with the key for a while.

That's it. I'm going to fabricate a theft deterrent device.... I don't care how illegal it is, if you touch my door handles when I'm not around, you're getting a few dozen thousand volts thorugh your body.

A nice big fat capacitor should do. And a way to switch it off.

Well look at the bright side...if it wasn't so easy to break into, you would have had a rock through your window.

ultimate security system. Shut your car off when parking, then start it up and shut it off again. Instantly flooded. Let's see a theif try and figure that one out

Is it just me, or does it seem like a dumb idea to make a thread discussing how to break into an FC? I don't think car thieves need to get any more ideas.

Seriously, people's car get stolen due to info posted on the internet all the time. I know a guy who has two nice cars, a well modded GS-T spyder and an SR20 240SX. Both of those cars were stolen, both were found on the internet. Giving out your location, pictures, and different ways to break into your car is not the best idea.
