Where's the power from my new exhaust?
I just installed my new Bonez Double-Cat system (needed CARB legalness) and RP 50mm Cat-Back. I can feel a little power increase, but I'm wondering where the power should be increased most, high or low?
I have my auxillary ports wired open, and I'm thinking maybe I would get more seat of the pants power from my new exhaust if I got some working actuators on there.
Would this help?
Thanks.

sounds like you have much bigger probelms than clogged cats. I would recoment a compresion check by a qualified professional or someone very familiar with rotories. A general mechanic might not know how to properly check the compression. I will wager that you have a bad seal or 2. There is supposed to be like 3 "bumps" when doing a compression check, I think. That would be my next step. If that checks good make sure the butterflies are opening all the way, mine were dirty and gummed up with something and would only open about 70%.

To be honest, that setup won't give you much of a gain to start with...8 maybe 12 HP at the most. Having working actuators is always a plus though. Seeing as how you still have 2 cats and only a 50mm cat back...the gains wont be as great or as noticeable as the much more talked about exhaust setups. But hey, at least you still pass inspection.

Heya Chico,
I've got an 1989 GTUs with wired open sixports and the Racing Beat downpipe presilencer [The big stainless "ultimate" free flow cat *wink*] and the HKS 50mm exhaust. I noticed I lost tons of bottom end when I wired the 6 ports open, but gained huge top end. With what you've put on, you probably would notice more top end than bottom end punch. I've been told the big power gains come from dropping the cats, and adding a free flow intake. I had a K & N drop in filter, then went to the GReddy Airinx intake (Thanks Seth!) and noticed a big difference. It pulled much harder up top, even though it sucks "hot" air. I'm in Sac, so let me know if you want to hook up and do some back to back testing, or hit the legal drags on Wednesday night.
