Where to get factory Mazda Parts? Mazdaformance not an option anymore...
Hey guys,
Was shocked to learn that Shawn at Mazdaformance is "no longer with us", whatever that means. The guy who was there didn't seem to know rotary product very well (or, was just having trouble finding my parts from my description.. don't know). But the worst part is they quoted the very same price that I receive at my local dealer... No more 30% discount!!
SO where do I go now?

Completely guessing - the guy I worked with was doing it under the table (most places I deal with only give discounts to BIG customers) to lots of small, 1 or 2 part customers... and may have gotten caught. I've heard of that happening before.. but understand that's a complete guess. Either way it sucks, as he took many hours to look up all the $1, $2 parts I bought, and I always had a good experience with him.

Forcus -- ask for Brian. I have bought from him several times and he knows rotaries. Furthermore, you should do your own homework on the parts your buying. I wouldent rely on any "one" person's statements about a part or product. I would corroborate everything with several other sources before ever calling a retailer. Just my .02

As far as your other comment I'd agree with you on most any other parts but these are just stock Mazda parts. I don't have access to the part numbers except through the truly, exceptionally, crappy parts books scans that Mazdaformance has on their website. Actually the scans themselves are not all that crappy, it's the way you attempt to find the parts that is (setup by Mazda originally). Not Mazdaformance fault but also not easy for the average user to find his/her parts.
Probably also explains why Shawn took a couple days to get back to me but I understood (figured he had to look at microfiche or something) as the other guy seemed to be looking at the same diagrams as I.
I will try for Brian and see what he can do! Unfortunately I already ordered from my dealer but next time..
Thanks,
Brian

Dwight has been helping me from there - seems to be doing a good job, for the discount, I will gladly suffer through some pain. It's still better than gomer at the local mazda stealership asking me why the engine does not have pistions and that he did not understand why any one would by a car (RX-8) that had an experemental engine.

I get most of my parts from Malloy Mazda. The guy you want to talk to there is Ray Crowe, he's the manager of the parts department. They always give really good prices on parts, they're big rotorheads there, they are one of the sponsors of the mazda drivers events held by MSCW. You can call them at (703) 490-8170

some of those mazda techs are on crack, the only way to assure that you get the right part is to find it yourself. all they want is for rx7 people to buy something new so that we dont have to bother them anymore.

Haven't we ALL heard this
I always wondered why Mazdatrix did that on their prices.
Oh, wait I know. People still pay full list price for parts and then enjoy paying the shipping prices. However, their customer service, aftermarket parts, and tech stuff is top notch. I don't go there for stock parts I go there for the other stuff.
Mazdaformance is great and I hope they dont flake out like that.
Hell, I almost think it is rude to call them and ask them to look up your part numbers for you. Brian is a cool guy ... I think he has a tII

Mazdatrix is great on the phone, keep in mind for most your not paying sales tax (unless the democrats have their way) and shipping is about 2 ticks less than tax would be in most states so your ahead and dont have to deal with a cranky parts guy

SO no more discount then no matter who you talk to.
As far as Mazdatrix, they are full list but I prefer to think of it as supporting a rotary specialist. I imagine some of that list goes to the overhead of running a place like that.
Unfortunately that doesn't make me any richer so I'll have to find another discounter or get that Mazda racer's price cut.
