where to get electric fan?
What electric fan works with the Fluidyne radiator and where can I get one? The place I asked wanted 180 for a permacool hi-performance or 225 for a FAL black magic?

Check www.summitracing.com has the black magic for $180 I believe

STOP!!!
There's no reason to spend more than $25 on the best fan you can get.
Which fan? You'll never guess it...
it pulls as much air as whatever fan my friend Brian Smith has in his 90 GTU - and he spent a WHOLE LOTTA money on it (sorry, can't remember the make/model)...
it has a shroud! something the aftermarket fans DO NOT have...
the shroud fits almost exactly over the RX-7's radiator...
and it's from a car that's rather notorious for it's, uh, "overheating"...
what is it?
the Pontiac Fiero!!! Both my friend and I just finished installing these fans in our cars, and they ROCK!!! So did BDC (Brian Cain - one of the FC badasses), and he loves it. It pulls air through his HUGE Mazdacomp radiator and an NPR large IC, and keeps it cooler than his old Black Magic fan...
Muhahahahaha!

i'd have to agree with No7Yet ..me and my friend have done the same, went to a junkyard and just pulled them out of a fiero and wired them up to our rx7's. i went to the auto parts store and picked up a temp wiring kit and then i ran a relay to it. easy enough and works fantastic.

If all else fails, you can go to www.summitracing.com and get the generic fan mounting kit. It's the same thing that comes with most aftermarket fans (i.e., goes through the radiator fins).
I've used them three times now and as long as you don't plan on doing the job again -- does the job quite well.
I just looked up the part number and it's SUM-G4990. $6.95 for the kit (four fasteners with foam backing).
Good luck!

For the sake of my post count here are a few more "mundane" details...
It comes from either model (I4 or V6) Fiero - they're the same part. Reliable? Well, it's an OEM part, pretty beefy, and I've never heard of one failing (and I followed Fire-os for a while). Plus, at $10-$25 each, they're cheaper than a fan clutch, even if they die...
The fiero fan has a shroud that alsmot completely covers the stock rad - drill a few holes in the shroud part, and use zip ties to secure it to the rad, and you'll be golden. The fan itself is a 5-blade unit, with a really wierd fin pattern that'll make you think it'd vibrate when spinning - but it doesn't. In fact, it's one of the quieter, more smooth-running fans I've seen.
Various places sell temp switches, e.g. Summit and Mazda (there's a 97 degC temp switch from a Miata that's killer). Wire one of those in with a 30A 12V relay, and bada-boom, temp control.
Make sure that you get the wires right! The fan won't spin the "wrong" way, only spark. The solid-black wire is negative, and the black-w/-red-stripe is positive. Use a fuse.
Go for it! It really works, guys! I'll post pics if I ever get around to it... If you really want to see them, PM me and bug me in a week or so.

Anyone know a good junkyard in Michigan near Ann Arbor/Jackson? One I went to said wrong things:
1. which engine is it? (replied not actually for one but a different car which it fits perfectly)
2. have a whole room full of fans (ie. not sure what cars they came from)
3. and lastly $35-$60 depending on which you choose
