i made a real cold air intake for my stock turbo back in the day and it was awesome. i wallered out the washer bottle hole and ran my intake through there.
i could pull over at night when the air was nice and cold, pop my hood, and my upper intake manifold would be COLD.
whats not to like about a cold air intake? your engine is sucking in cold outside air instead of 150 degree engine bay air. obviously more power to be had

Another inaccuracy in the first page is that someone wanted to see someone mock that ford MAF to a MegaSquirt. Megasquirts use MAP instead of a MAF or AFM. This means that it's injecting fuel based on your RPM and the Kpa (pressure/vacuum) inside your intake manifold. No need for ANY MAF/AFM.

I've personally built 3 CAI systems for the FC. It's easy, it's cheap, and it's much MUCH better than just sticking a cone filter in the engine bay.
Why have a cone filter just laying in the engine bay? That's worse than stock... In stock form the intake draws colder air in every production car I've ever seen. Why would they do that? Maybe because drawing in hot engine bay air is BAD. Taking in colder air will always be better, whether it is through a cold air box with routed air, or a true cold air intake with the filter sitting somewhere outside of the engine bay.
That being said, I will never do anything less than a true CAI.

The ECU needs to know the temp of the air at the same place the airflow is measured for the conversion to mass airflow. But it also needs to know the actual temp of the air entering the engine, which will always be hotter because it's passed through the intake system. This is even more important on turbos, as the air temp can be completely different once it's passed though the turbo and intercooler. You can't perform these two measurements with just one sensor, so all FC's (and most EFI cars) have an air temp sensor in the manifold or TB.

air flow as follows,
1- enters intake
2- compressed by HOT turbo
3- travels to IC (which cools it down)
4- to TB then soon and ya
So i see no point in it if the air intake will just get heated right up from the turbo, upgrade the IC and your good to go :P

Oh jeez, does this have to be explained again! It's obvious you have no actual experience with turbos and CAI's. The cooler the air is when it enters the intake, the cooler it will be when it gets to the engine, no matter what happens along the way. So simple, yet the same stupid "I see no point with a turbo" statement gets made again and again...

Check it out.
Would you rather have 50 degree going in and 150 coming out? Or 125 going in and 225 coming?
Denser air = more power.
I think you need to read up more on this **** before posting.

hahaha, wow. My reason for not having one, I rarely have time to do any mods to my car. There's so much that I need to get done, yet, can't really get them done because i have little time. It's crazy.
