Well tire width depends on rim width as well. And rim offset too. Go to the Rim/Tire/Suspension Tech section and look around, might find some more info there.

Without considering if itll actually fit on the car... according to Tirerack you can fit about a 245/50 on there, but itll probably look kinda fat, from what ive seen you should be able to fit 245's in the rear easily with the right offset, but it sounds kinda iffy on the 245's in front.

245s safely on those rims. I have 255s on my car. I have heard you can fit 265s, but tire width varies from manufactorer to manufactorer... Thats why I played it safe with 255s..

Easily 225 front, 255/265 rear...
235 is tight up front; offset has to be spot on.  Some 245's might fit up front.
Some 275's can fit in back, but offset has to be spot on.

you can run a 245 on that back but a 235 would look alot better as far as tire wall wideness, i'm running an 285 on my car but then again i got a 18 by 10 outback(i even was able to do this without flaring the fender)

You sure about that? I have 225's on the front and rear with 38mm offset rims and 7/32" wheel spacers on the front and on full turn sometimes it thumps against something... of course this is with the car lowered with eibach pro kit springs, so that may be why. Normal driving there is absolutely no problem, it just thumps sometimes on full turn in reverse or forward but not all the time

What's the offset on those 18 x 10?
What kinda tire brand are you running?

Lesse 7/32" is like 5.5mm, so your effective offset is like 32mm - 33mm.
What width rim are we talking about here?  7"?  7.5"?  8"?

If it's 8", I like to have a +27mm offset, so it's still another 5mm too deep for my liking.  It doesn't surprise me it still hits things insude the wheel well.

There's a rather lengthy thread in the suspension section about wheel sizes and offsets for FC's.

16x7.0, and yah its not like it hits it all the time, just sometimes on full turn, so its no biggie.. I'm actually thinking of taking the spacers off and see if its still ok, cuz at higher speeds my steering wheel shakes and i'd rather it not heh

Oh, that's weird.
You should be perfect for those rims.
225/50/16 tire size, right?
There are some splash guards toward the front insides that warp - you could be rubbing against them?

The offset of the wheels is the most important factor when determining what tires will fit

I have 18x7.5 wheels with 225/40/18s up front with 265/35/18s in the rear. I also have Eibach springs with Tokico shocks.

There are some pictures of my tire and wheel setup on my site (scroll down the page):

I dug up these pictures.

The red arrows show where you run into problems with wide tires on the front of a 2nd gen.

One arrow shows that the front springs limit width and the other arrow shows when you turn the wheels sharply the tires will rub if too wide.

Im my case a 225 is the widest I could go with the offset of my rims but with the right offset with a 7.5 or 8 inch rim ....... a 245 should fit perfectly

hey, ive got 225/50/16's on my S, and on the Driverside only, the sidewall barely rubs the lower spring perch on the strut. i have michelins on there, and its got like a ribbing pattern on the sidewall, and my bottom spring perch has rubbed the peaks off the ribbed band on my sidewall.

my passengerside still has a couple mm of clearance. if i can get some spacers, maybe 5 or 10mm and push them out, i could get a 235 on there.. maybe 245's. but i need to find longer wheel studs for the FC. they oughta fit nicely inside my CS wide-fenders im fixin to get

Just decided to dig this thread up.......................lol

I run 245/35/17s all the way around. You can maybe fit a sheet of paper between the wheel and the spring but I have had them for 3 years and they never rub lol

I'm running 235/45/17's all around..looks good and have no rubbing problems, but this is with stock height. Any lowering and I think it will rub.
