What's an MIL?
So I'm working on learning about getting codes and whatnot from the RX (mines an 90 gxl n/a) and I'm reading the Fuel and Emissions Control Section of the FSM and it references some thing that's used to assist in getting the codes from the ecu. The MIL. Anybody knows what this is? I got this on page F-19 of the 04A_Fuel_and_Emission_control_systems_non_turbo.pd f file from iluvmyrx7.com.
I'm including a jpeg of the reference.

It seems "MIL" is the proper term. I know Honda service manuals always refer to the check engine light as the malfunction indicator lamp, must be the same through Mazda manuals.

MIL is actually a universal(as far as car companies go)term for the check engine light, warning light, idiot light.
on OBDII equipped cars(96-current)you can actually pull up a "freeze frame" of when your car stored the code and what happened during that time period.
of course that doesnt apply to us
