Thumbs down

There were only 1500 AE's made. 140k is a lot of miles escpecially for an AE that looks like it wasn't taken care of. Missing paint, bad rust are not really a big job to fix for a skilled body shop, but with high mileage; I wouldn't pay more than $1,000 for it. If the interior is bad, then $500-$1000. If you pick it up for less than $1000, it would be a good restoration project.

The miles aren't too bad for an 88. It should have 130k (going by 10k/yr), so its a little high. The body is what gets me though. I wouldn't buy it unless I paid cheap for it. I would have to see some pics of the interior as well. If it has rust on the outside of the body, then it more than likely has rust other places as well (under the hood).

To give you a figure, I wouldn't sell my 10th for under 10k. Its in emmaculate condition and has many pricey aftermarket parts on it..

Keep in mind that the car is rare..

so basically 1,500 is way too much for this car? wow i thought since it's rare AND a turbo it'd actually be worth something.

Well in my opion it would be worth something being a AE; but the thing everyone is saying is the condition it is in..plus no interior pics..so it could be immaculate inside(doubt it) or really messed up inside(more than likely). If the inside, underneath(not that big a deal but need to look), outside, and under the hood looked ok I would say jump on it for that price..or even a little more. Miles aren't that big a deal if you gotta do a little or a lot of worl on it. To give you an idea of what one goes for. I got my AE for 2300 it had 115,000 on it and the guy really didnt know what he had. All it needs is the seats redone and a paint job. Everyone says it soesnt need to be painted but if you look close it does. It idles a little messed up..but I plan on doing stuff to it down the road like new motor..and all that good stuff. i was thinking of modding it a good bit but dont know. The outside would be stock looking...maybe rims. The interior would only maybe have gauges ..only mods would be under hood and that kind of stuff.

Like TBOOST said he wouldnt take less that 10k for his..that is what a REALLY REALLy nice one goes for..by the way his looks REALLY nice

well sorry for rambling.

Hmmm... I have to disagree with most of these guys. I would go as high as $2k for that car, maybe even $2500. It needs paint BADLY, and has been "bumped" in the right front. Otherwise the body looks good. Per the seller, it runs and drives good, and has good A/C- if this is NOT true, it's fraud- be sure your payment is sent via US mail and as a US POSTAL MONEY ORDER. If it were JUST a TII, then I agree with the $1000-$1500 that these guys are saying... but on an AE I would go quite a bit more. If the "cupholder" would let me I would jump right on this auction.

Greys 10th:

Thanks for the compliments! I spent a lot (well, not on the body) to restore the car to mint condition. Getting a good stereo, antenna, detailing the interior, fixing the wiper switch, etc.. but its worth it.

RXRagTop:

The more I think about it, the more I agree with you. If I were looking for a 10th AE only, then I would pay 2500 for that car too. I could get the paint job and body fixed for $2500 and it would be really nice. The fact that the car is rare puts a cost on it.

Just wait until they are no longer in the blue book. I predict that the AE will be the most sought after RX7 (besides the GTUs) as a classic car..

I paid $5500 for mine, 90k at the time but it was VERY well taken care of by the previous owner and mechanically perfect... he used to jack it up to clean the suspension parts with a toothbrush, and along with the car I got every receipt for every bit of work ever done on the car.

Yea, to me $5500 is a damn good deal on one that is in mint condition. They are really worth more though but the bluebook wouldn't agree with me..
