Last time I checked all asians ran faster and harder than all americans(facisious). I think you're confusing yourself with a parasitic stereotype that JDM is always better than the American Domestic Market. Actually, its just a marketting ploy you're falling for
It means that someone in the advertising department is getting paid because they are smarter then you.
NOTE: I don't mean you directly, but anyone who really consider's something because its JDM or J-Spec
EDIT: Thats not to say there aren't some definate advanages of importing a jspec engine. Its the only way to get a stock 20b for example.
Just be smart. Take "J-Spec", and "JDM" like a grain of salt when you're on ebay (or for that matter respectible distrobutors) because they are only trying to sell a product. If I make a product (im an american) and get it produced and licensed in japan, its JDM as long as i am able to sell a couple products on the Japan street. Nothing Japan about it other than its cheaper for me to build it there than in america. Not to mention, products can get tagged "JDM" without having any reference at all to japan because its the title of the product, not the description.
When I see JDM on ebay, I usually move on to something else. Ebay is plauged by people trying to get rich off stupid people. And I'm not stupid people

THe only reason to consider jspec over american version is they are more plentyful at a reasonable cost. To do Tii conversion on a S5, finding a donor car is tough. I know as I have been looking to update one of my verts.

the only thing truely better from japan for an fc is the infini 4 which had 215hp, but i think that was just from a better s5 exhaust setup. its in the faq if youre curious.
