Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
No, it would continue to smell if you had one rotor not firing. And probably back fire in the exhaust a lot
So since the fuel system works, the smell goes away, so the ignition system work, the compression is probably okay, the only thing left is timing issues.
when did you last set the timing on the car?

I have never. I don't know a whole lot about timing, but I guessed that that may be the cause of it along with the injectors, possibly. Can the timing have such an effect on the car?

How do you KNOW you're running on one rotor? If you were, its possible to still drive the car and have it boost fine (i drove from phoenix to flagstaff with the front leading spark wire off. Couldnt really tell except that the idle sucked ***). Did you check spark at all plugs? Listen for clicking with a stethoscope at your primary injectors? Make sure your MAF is plugged in solid? Kick the drivers side tire REALLY hard?

Well I replaced my spark plugs and tested the spark, so that is good. And what do you mean kick the drivers sied tire? haha I think I am going to test the timing.

Hah kicking the tire works for me How about everything else? Maf? Test it with a DMM, do a search you can find out how. My cars timing was fine too, untill one day it decided to start mis-firing. If you find that your timing is jumping around WHILE trying to nail it down, you're coils might be grounded poorly (was the story with my car. I found out by pulling off the L1 lead and letting the spark jump a 1 inch gap between the coil and wire... smoothed my idle right out every time!!)

AFM is fine. So the timing is what seems to be as the next thing to check. I mean, that's all I have found to be a problem. But yeah I'll have to try your suggestion fusion-turbo.

Question:
How long was the drive from your friends house to your house?
I ask this, because on one particular occasion I flooded my car REALLY badly, and it drove VERY badly for several minutes. I.E. No power, terrible and jerky acceleration... Not only that, if your plugs are already potentially fouled--there's not much hope of the spark *cutting* through all that extra fuel, at least for a few minutes. I actually thought I had blown my motor (and this was recent).

It's very strange. The first time I'll start it up each day, I'll drive and it will drive fine, but the idle will fall really low and die unless you keep a steady amount of throttle. Sounds like it's not firing correct maybe at idle because of the sound it makes. Timing? I need to check. Got to go and buy a timing light though, and pick up a multimeter too.
