The Starion core is a piece of ****. Everybody who has run that core has found that just about anything is better than it. It is not very efficint at all, and the pressure drops are extreme.

www.autospeed.com rated the FC intercooler pretty well. Flow rate and heatsink capacity were better than some of the more typical junkyard ICs.

best junkyard IC that i know of is ones for turbo diesel trucks. http://www.geocities.com/motorcity/l..._info/ford_ic/
huge! scroll down and see the pic on the car!

theres other truck intercoolers that could fit our cars though, like maybe the cummins turbo diesel... i hear they run as little as $100.

I am using a starion core with good results. I cut off the endtanks entirely , then had welded onto it new endtanks. for the new tanks i used the same side from 2 stock fc intercoolers, I used the underside endtank so that I had the inlet/outlets on the starion core facing straight back towards the engine. The fc endtanks fit the starion core with about 1" of trimming. I have the core sitting higher than most do, with the top of it almost touching theunderside of the hood at the very front, and i have a hole cut into the upperhalf of my bumper. With the big opening I have in the lower portion of my front bumper I have enugh space to give the oilcooler and radiator its own airsource on the bootom with a carbon fiber undertray, and the ic sits above that on another cf "floor" providing it its on airsource. I also moved the radiator back about 3" to make more space up front. With this setup I have half the length of piping than with a typical front mount setup. its half way to a V-mount but with less heat sink from the radiator. Also for the IC I molded in an inverted hood vent to let out heat. Though there are better cores and setups out there this seems to work really weel, costs very little, and with the way I have it set up look really good

I'll be using a 944 intercooler. The core seems to be a good one. The tank design is not so hot. I simple had the end tanks cut off and had new ones welded on. Should fit fairly good as well.

Here is a pretty cool site... Pictures of about 50 different stock IC's. Enjoy.

Hey,

I am in VA too and I'm looking for somebody around here that is willing to weld endtanks to a intercooler!

Do you know anybody around here?

I'm going to get a 13BT soon and I dont feel like getting a TII hood b/c 1)It's hard to find 2)expensive if you find one 3)I have to paint it my body color. So I'm plainning to go ghetto and get a FMIC or relocate the Top mount IC. I don't know how the hell you can route the pipes through the front of the car. Do you have to drill holes in the body and other places to make pipes go through or something?

How much does something like that cost to have the old endtanks cut off and new ones made?
