What would you pay/sell my car for?

so i need a little help and opinion
okay im beginning to put things on balances and adding up costs etc. im deciding if i should keep my car, fix it, and drive it 1700 miles down to my air force base in louisiana in the course of 14 days when i come home on leave in march.. i cant decide. the costs grow more and more with every price i add in and its going to be VERY expensive if i make it down there.

So my question to you is IF I were to sell my car, what would you pay for it? I dont know how much to sell a damaged car for.

KBB.com says private party value for FAIR- $3,125. GOOD- $3,615, EXCELLENT- $3,990.
The car qualifies for the FAIR zone.

1987 FC RX-7 SE trim. 90k miles.

Stuff: K&N intake and a grounding kit are all its had for modification. A/C blows frigid cold. It has a new replaced ECU, I spent a good $40 in parts/fluid every 3k miles getting it oil changes with the best (K&N and Mobil1), I maintained it very well when I drove it, the engine bay is spotless and beautiful after i removed all grease and grime, i waxed it 3x a month when i had it so whatever dirt is on it will wash right off, gear synchros still have estimated 50% life on em, last time it was ran the engine ran strong as an ox and as smooth as a gazelle, tires are matching and have 90% tread left, title is clean, car was owned by my grandfather in pennsylvania who babied and garaged it his whole life- im its 2nd owner

Bad Stuff: Its been in storage for a year, it needs a new clutch kit, it needs a new shifter bushing, it needs a new key ignition (possibly new locks all around unless a locksmith makes a key), it had a small accident- front drivers side fender repairable its a real small 5mph fender bender, missing drivers side flash to pass lens, small rust patch patched with bondo and painted inside rear wheel well, missing trim piece that goes around radio, minor imperfections here and there. the paint is amazing- mirrored finish when waxed- a few unrusted chips and small scrapes, normal.

So what would i sell it for?

(images are a year and a half old)

$3100, on the guess that I'd have to have the gas tanked drained and cleaned, replace the fuel stuff, and repair that fender. $3300 if you went to the gas station, filled it up to the top, added some injector cleaner and drove it until empty then refilled it with no problems, and then didn't tell me it had been sitting for a year. -$300 if it's not drivable without the needed clutch, because that means a clutch PLUS towing to my place.

I'm picky though, I bought my '87 for $1500.

Very sharp car though!

Nice clean car, but I wouldn't pay more than whatever the bluebook value states in what condition it is. No offense or anything but as an RX-7 fan, I wouldn't want to pay $2200-up for a Series 4 non turbo. Good Luck though!

If I were you, I'd list the car at $3000 or best offer, and take the first $2600. Actually, the 87 I bought for $1500 was listed at $2995 on the lot, but I pointed out the high mileage, poor paint, and the obvious wiring deficiencies, and told him I couldn't see paying more than $1000 for it. He said he'd take 1500, and I wrote him a check.

Good luck. No Offense but yours is not a desireable model. The car looks clean from the pictures but these guys are being nice. MAX value for your car is $1500-$1800

Over the top prices in the states

I paid £1200 around $2400 for 1989 RX7 turbo 2.

Mint condition, Full years MOT (thats the british safety check for vehicles). Perfect inside and out, it's only got 12,500 miles on new engine and runs sweatly. Also came with full service history.

I went collected it and drove home with a hugh smile on my face. Then out came the MAZDATRIX catalogue.

Keep in mind the blue book value jumped over $1000 about a year ago, for those of you who bought your cars before that.

I think the real question on this car is: what kind of shape is the clutch in? Usable? Must be replaced right away? etc.

id give bout 2700 at the most.

garage queen rx7s dont hold that much value to me especialy if they are babied. that and youre missing the FTP lenses.

other than that it looks really really sharp!

im also a bit picky, spent 1700 on mine.

good luck!
