What type of Cold Air intake should i get?

Thre are only two REAL CAI's on the market. Check point makes one and I also have developed one but production is slowed. If you want to check it out go to www.aztechrotary.com for the other one just search on google. I forgot the URL.

Currently there are no aftermarket vendors that offer a cold air induction for our types of cars. However there are several... simple intake kits that you may purchase and "build" (tools providing) a cold air box...
I personally have cut some of the radiator support on the passenger side of the engine bay, and ran a hardpipe from my TB inlet down to the front of the radiator where my air filter currently sits.
Running a microtech i no longer have to worry about the silly silver box (AFM). It generally alot easier to run the air filter anywhere you prefer when you dont have to worry about the AFM getting in the way.
Check Rx-7.com ; Mariah motorsports sells a NICE cold air box ; Mazdatrix sells an intake kit ; and there are a few others that offer intake filters / AFM adapters but i can't think of them off the top of my head.
Maybe others could fill in?
EDIT::: HOW IN THE HECK COULD I FORGET... Get in touch with Santiago, i've heard their intake set up works well also..
Good luck..

K&N FIPK(filter, with adaptor for your AFM)
Mariah cold air box
Cork Sport headlight cover with NACA duct.
Boom, you've got cold air induction all day long. Then for the night, you just have to drill some holes and take out your flash to pass lense on the passenger side

how about you do something like i did to my 7.. this setup.
in this setup i just found some pipes and i cut them accordingly to the way i wanted to fit my (CAI) (cold air intake)
here's a viedo of it.

im also interested in having a cold air setup. so far i think aztec has the best setup. most airboxes i have seen are just built around a cone filter which remains at the end of the stock intake tube. the box will block the heat but the location of the intake cone is confined. the only (easy) way to deliver air is to keep the stock scoop (the one on top of the radiator/fan shroud) and cut a hole in the air box for it and to remove the clear lenses. other wise drilling and ducting is required.

also, i had a question which i was gonna start a new thread for but it kind of relates to this topic. ive seen plenty of intake setups and i was just wondering why people choose to keep the stock intake tube instead of getting a metal one made instead. i am planning to get one (mandrel bent and polished on the inside) made becasue it seems that the stock one has too many ridges in it that would cause air turbulence. i know that nobody makes metal intake pipes (except aztec) so they all have to be custom fabricated ($$$). so why dont people get it done? is the reason just because it costs more than the benfits it provides?

what thing by my fender? in the engine bay? or in the pic in my sig.....
the car sounds mean as ****... i gutted my cats but dont have an exhaust but it sounds awesome for pretty much the stock setup.... my intake setup was really pretty easy... my car never runs anywhere near past 1/4 now heh sometimes i feel like it takes too long to warm up lol. the performance from it shocked me.. i used to have it in the bay soaking hot engine air heat before i did this and wow THIS WAS A HELL OF AN IMPROVMENT!!!
1. remove air pump muffler, washer fluid bottle and tuck away wires in that corner out of the way
2. move the pressure sensor, trim metal it bolted onto so piping does not hit it
3. get piping from a civic intake, just look on ebay and find one that can be cut to forum one straight one, and one curved one like in the pic
4. enlarge hole that washer bottle came thru at (where the piping disapears into fender) you only need to make it about 1 or so inches bigger so the 3" pipe will fit
5. bolt on filter!!
now of course this is not detailed and i do not have time to go into more detail on this post but if there are any questions just ask!!
btw not to much metal cutting, its something a normal guy can do though i used a plasma cutter at the shop i work at

also a disclaimer i have: i used a quality K&N filter on my intake setup, i would recomend the same quality or better in a filter due to the low placing of the filter, i and many others with this setup have driven in much much rain with never one ill effect but im sure the 9$ ebay filter will prove different. be careful and choose a filter (a little more for a filter is cheaper than a new motor)

I wouldn't run a cheapy filter so close to water, dust, dirt and bugs down by the grille. In addition, although I'm partial to HKS's foam filter, I wouldn't run one of these so close to the ground. Go with K&N - they are the standard, they are re-useable and you know they aren't e-bay filters Also, in order for the intake to stay relatively clean and get the correct airflow you must have the underguard for the front of the car installed otherwise air will flow under the car as opposed to through the grille. This is also important for coolant temps on hot days as you want the air flowing through the radiator and not under or around it.

well as you can see where the filter is is blocked off from the air around the RAD or anything over there.... i have the brake ducting providing fresh cool air for the filter... so there is no hot air anywhere near it from the motor or the car....
