so what is it,ive read through a kajillion posts and everyone says stuff like,if you put a standalone in an n/a,youl have good hp gains

It is a computer that completely replaces your stock ECU.
You hook up the sensors, injectors etc, and map it however you want.
EG: Wolf, Haltec, Microtec...
Not to be confused with a piggyback system that adjusts the stock sensor signals to the stock ECU.
EG: S-AFC...

Well, technically, the installation is just hooking up the wires and sensors.
Making everything work well and reliabilty is a whole nother ball game.
I don't think most people can tune a stand-alone to make efficient power and work as close or better than the stock ECU on a daily driver.

Um, whats wrong with installing the microtech yourself, and using the pre-made maps and getting it professionaly dyno tuned? I know its a decent amount of cash, but well worth it I guess.
Or if you want... buy a portable wideband 02 sensor and hand held display.
