i tired a search, and nothing came up suprisingly. i heard different FCs come with different speaker sizes. i have a 90 gxl, how many speakers are there (i heard there are some on the dash???) and what size are they all. the interior forum section is lame, no one replies to posts there, so i thought askin in here.

I think the dash ones are all 4", but I could be wrong. Go to any new car audio site, and customize their thing so it only searches for stuff that will fit your car, then you'll see what fits where.

I just tossed my original old speakers and didn't measure them. However, I can tell you what I replaced them with that did fit.
I put 5 1/4' component speakers put up front, with the main drivers in the stock door location, and the tweeters in the dash behind the lower small vents (not air vents, but two small vents that probably had the old dash speakers) directly above the knees of the passenger and driver's side. Tweeters are aimed slightly up even through they cannot be seen.
Replaced the rears with 6 1/2's, but there is so much extra room in those rear stock spots that they did have to fabricate some rings to keep the rears in place.
All driven by a Pheonix 500.4ti amp hidden in a false bottom of one on the rear storage bins. Room for CD's and shop manual on top of the false bottom, so the whole system looks stock except the Eclipse head unit.
I didn't do any of the work myself, so I wouldn't be able to answer anything technical, but I'm happy with my new system.

My installer said there wasn't much room in the doors where I put my 5 1/4's, but you may get most 6" speakers in there if the magnet isn't extremely deep (like Focal speakers). The speakers I threw away from the front doors were definitely not as large as 6 1/2's. They looked like 5 1/4's, but I was busy staring at the crap quality of the speaker cones and wondering why someone tolerated this for 14 years. (I just bought the car last week).
Getting component speakers sounded like a good idea, but I've got some 6" coaxial speakers (Pair of $100 Polk Audio speakers) in the doors of my BMW Z3, and they actually sound better than my expensive 5 1/4" component speakers as far as setting a front stage to the sound. Tweeters aimed at your knees from the dash was a great idea for the RX-7 to keep it stock looking and use those stock dash locations, but the imaging would likely improve if I would have just used coaxials in the doors. I assumed that component speakers were "always" better. I should have let them mount them on the door somewhere to reach my ears more directly (or used coaxials). I would have saved some money and had better imaging.
